Q re: Leica 50mm Summilux preasph e46 -- LTM?

Does anybody know anything about a last-version (e46) 50 Summilux pre-asph that actually came in screw-mount form?

I can't seem to find any information on this lens... was it a collector's item, or did it ever exist, or have I mixed it up with an older lens?

I know there's an older 50 Summilux that was LTM made in 1960-63 (600 produced I believe), but I'm looking for the pre-asph one with e46 filter and built in hood--if it exists!

Thanks,

Peter.

Yes, it was a limited edition of screw mount lenses targeted to Japanese market - end of 90's (1999 I seem to remember) , E46 - hood - chrome - I seem with different minimum focus from the M version (1m - right for Screwmount Leicas RF): of course usable, but to be considered mostly a (costly) collectible; some appear for sale, time to time.... (http://cgi.ebay.com/Leica-Summilux-50mm-f1-4-50-1-4-pre-ASPH-M39-MINT-/270712388001)

The same "special edition" included also Summicron 50 and Summicron 35 Asph in screw mount - around 500 items (each ?) I think.

Thank you so much Luigi!

I was looking for this info on the web and couldn't find it!

Much appreciated,

Peter.

It looks like I'll be getting one next week. I was looking for a pre-asph 50 'lux and found one of these.

One of the special edition ? Well, be it or an old one in screw mount, it surely deserves a picture to be posted here....;)...a Summilux in screw mount is always a very tasty item: compliments for your aquisition !!

I believe it is one of the special edition ones - I ordered it before I knew for sure. As I said, I was looking for a pre-asph 50/1.4 and stumbled on to this one... I will definitely post a photo when I receive it, and thank you for your help and good wishes Luigi!

It arrived this evening, and it is perfect!

Just wanted to share my "new" beautiful silver 50 'lux pre-asph in screw mount to my forum friends and to thank Luigi for all of his help!

Fine !!! Compliments, and thanks for the pictures ! It's undoubtly one of the special series I quoted... can you detail its serial number ? Just a curiosity... it seems to me that special series was not a specific set or 500 (or so) consecutive s/n, but they were "intermixed" within a normal batch of Summilux 50...
