NZDavid Posted April 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why does in-appr-opri-ate.com ads for singles appear as a sidebar on the forum when viewed in Firefox but not on Safari? Also, the forum seems to be going s..l..o..w these days -- and it's not just the languid broadband speed. Anyone else having smilar issues?
Advertisement Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hi NZDavid, Take a look here Why the sidebar ads?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted April 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2011 If you see inappropriate ads on the forum, please PM "admin", preferably with the URL of the linked page. These are google generated, and the URLs can be blacklisted. You might also like to consider sponsoring the forum, which means that all the advertising frames are removed from your forum. I have edited the post above as quoting the URL of the inappropriate link will just encourage google to deliver more ads.

juergen Posted April 6, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2011 Adding Adblock to Firefox will get you rid of any ad. That's one of the reason why I am using Firefox. Juergen

cbretteville Posted April 6, 2011 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2011 That's one of the reason why I am using Firefox. Juergen I use FF and Adblock too, it is still worth it to sponsor the forum. Carl
honcho Posted April 6, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) What ads? :-D If you use an iPad, Tapatalk is a supported forum app that displays forum threads without any distracting junk.
bill Posted April 6, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 6, 2011 Just for balance, Tapatalk works on Android tablets too Regards, Bill
prunelle Posted April 6, 2011 Share #9 Posted April 6, 2011 I use FF and Adblock too, it is still worth it to sponsor the forum. Carl I'm using adblock to avoid aggressive advertising, not to avoid sponsoring the forum. I'm not a sponsor yet, but I'll probably be... once. pico Posted April 8, 2011 Share #11 Posted April 8, 2011 What ads? :-DIf you use an iPad, Tapatalk is a supported forum app that displays forum threads without any distracting junk. I tried Tapatalk on my iPad, and there is just something wrong, IMHO, when all the supporting ads are removed and all we see is some kind of sterile list. This site is a Leica site, not a distillation of opinions, unless that's what you want. I don't want that. Who else does?
bill Posted April 8, 2011 Share #12 Posted April 8, 2011 Me. on a mobile device. The ads are proportionally even more intrusive on a small screen, either phone or tablet. The Tapatalk interface is ideal when out and about. Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted April 16, 2011 Share #13 Posted April 16, 2011 I don't see the point of Tapatalk on an iPad, the screen is large enough to use the standard website - which is what I am doing now.
Tietje Posted May 28, 2011 Share #14 Posted May 28, 2011 In Safari (on a Mac) there is an adblocker too! I'm using it now.
pico Posted May 28, 2011 Share #15 Posted May 28, 2011 With the Premium - Plain Vanilla view, there are no side ads at all.
