Lock ups, missed focus, slow operation and lousy firmware

Here is my take. When the M8 first came out, I waited a few months so they could get the bugs out. For me, that translated (so far) in over 70,000 photos taken with NO, and I mean absolutely NO problems with my M8 (poo poo to those who say the M8 is not reliable!!). I was not an early adopter of the camera. Now we have the Fuji X100. Most reviews are positive, but there are problems as this thread points out. I am sure Fuji will make good and change the firmware to correct the situation. It really has a fantastic lens, sensor, and layout, that cannot be denied, and it will influence the next X1 variant (X2 with viewfinder? YES!!!, Leica X2 with an M8 size sensor with superior high ISO for $3,000?).

These are growing pains and all camera makers encounter them.

The X100 , X1, M8, M9 for me offers more choice for people who like direct view cameras, and will pressure Leica and others to make similar (Shutter dials, no LCD panels on top of the camera/multi functions) products. This is great news for all of us, and will offer more choices. My real hope is for more choices of new digital camera bodies for Leica M mount lenses. The lenses to me are my crown jewels, not the cameras in my opinion, especially in the digital age. Come to think of it, whenever I have bought (used, I cannot afford new in most cases) a Leica lens, I never had the feeling of an empty pocket or buyers remorse.
