cernobila Posted April 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yes I also am looking for the above adapter to fit my five "R" lenses from an old Leicaflex SL2 to my Olympus E-620 and E-5 bodies. I can't afford any real Leica bodies anymore but would love to combine Leica lenses and Olympus digital cameras, since I have them both. Where can I get this adapter, can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

luigi bertolotti Posted April 2, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2011 An adapter for R lenses to 4/3 (not Micro 4/3) is not so easy to find : this Italian specialist has it, listed in his site : Raccordi / Adapter I know the above seller, he's trustable. Anoter adapter listed : http://www.gadgetinfinity.com/product.php?productid=17038 , do not know the seller.
cernobila Posted April 4, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted April 4, 2011 After contacting our local specialist second hand camera store, I found that they sell these adapters quite regularly; the ones they deal with are made in China, are very reliable and are to be used in manual focus and in aperture priority/manual exposure only. The gentlemen I spoke to uses 7 of these for his many body/lens combinations and is very happy with them......I got two on order, one for the R lenses to 4/3rds and one for the R lenses to micro 4/3rds. I did not realise that there are so many options as to lens/body combinations simply by using the correct adapter......learn something every day. TonyMCS Posted April 4, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 4, 2011 I use Novoflex: both Leica-R lens to 4/3 and Pentax K lens to 4/3: Novoflex - Adapters Better design and quality compared to the much cheaper adapter I had from China !
cernobila Posted April 5, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted April 5, 2011 I use Novoflex: both Leica-R lens to 4/3 and Pentax K lens to 4/3: Novoflex - Adapters Better design and quality compared to the much cheaper adapter I had from China ! Did a bit more research and decided to cancel my order at the store. I have ordered one from Novoflex instead, because of cost, only the 4/3rd's version at this stage......perhaps the M4/3rd's later on.

Anoter adapter listed : Gadget Infinity :: Digital Camera :: Lens Attachment :: Adapter :: AF Confirm Leica / Four Thirds Adapter for Olympus E-Series DSLR , do not know the seller. After all that......Novoflex will not sell direct and sent me to an Australian dealer (far too expensive) so that idea was dropped. When it comes to camera equipment I still prefer to buy European or Japanese, I ended up buying the Italian (Raccordi) instead. Its actually cheaper than most Chinese unmarked adapters found in stores here.
Paolo.Battista Posted April 8, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 8, 2011 I use many R lenses on my Digilux 3 and Oly E-3 bodies, and tried several adapters. The Novoflex is for sure the really best one as far as mechanical construction is considered, and accepts even lenses shorter than 35 mm such as the 19 Elmarit (other adapters can't mount them). But I strongly reccomend using chipped adapters, since the focus confirmation, specially on the E-3, is working really well and you really need it in many circustances. There are two lenses that I am looking forward to trying out on my Olympus E-620, the PA-Curtagon f4/35 and the Macro-Elmarit R f2.8/60. The adapter I purchased is not expensive, If I don't like it I will reconsider the Novoflex. What is the magnification going from the R lenses to the 4/3rd's, is it 1.5 or 2. Is the macro a 90 or 120 on the E-620.
TonyMCS Posted April 8, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 8, 2011 35mm lenses are equivalent to 2x the focal length on 4/3 sensors, so the Macro-Elmarit R f2.8/60 will be 120mm equivalent and you will enjoy it

What would the result be for a "R" lens on the micro4/3rd's, 2x or 3x.
digi2ap Posted April 9, 2011 Share #12 Posted April 9, 2011 You will need a 43rds to micro four 43rds adapter. I currently use the Novoflex R to 43rds adaptor when photographing with my Leica D3 and the Panasonic 43rds to micro 43rds adaptor together when videoing with my Panasonic GH1, and it all works. The crop size remains 2x as with 43rds.

After the first shots and excitement, you will start to hate that combination without a help from the focus assist circuit. On the m4/3, it's not the same thing due to liveview magnification, but there it really depends on the speed you need to obtain an accurate focus.
