patrick parker Posted March 27, 2011 Share #482 Â Posted March 27, 2011 these upgrades sound really very good. i can't wait to try the new firmware. why is sean reid publishing the beta version review now? does it make sense to you?
andybarton Posted March 27, 2011 Share #483 Â Posted March 27, 2011 It makes sense because people are talking about it and him.
patrick parker Posted March 27, 2011 Share #484 Â Posted March 27, 2011 true. i think he's also warming up for an x1 and x100 comparison. it will be interesting. i just may sign up.
Backpage Posted March 27, 2011 Share #485 Â Posted March 27, 2011 I've heard from a reliable source in Lichtenstein that when you download the new firmware, the X1 morphs into a X100. Also rumors abound that for a small additional fee, the X1 also becomes a toaster oven.
Allnm Posted March 27, 2011 Share #486  Posted March 27, 2011 The one ISO 3200 image posted with the new firmware looks terribly smeared. See this link: Leica X1 - a set on Flickr  Which one? There are a few. Most look pretty good to me but the building on the river is a bit noisy  Allan
earful Posted March 27, 2011 Share #487 Â Posted March 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've heard from a reliable source in Lichtenstein that when you download the new firmware, the X1 morphs into a X100. AlanJW Posted March 27, 2011 Share #488 Â Posted March 27, 2011 Â Barjohn, go shoot some photos with the X100 for all of us to ogle and leave us poor X1 owners to wallow in self-pity at having bought a piece of crap that cannot AF and cannot take photos either. That'll be a more effective way to bring your point across. Â The ignore function is very useful.
peekpt Posted March 27, 2011 Share #489 Â Posted March 27, 2011 I was waiting for the x100 but I decide to buy the X1 instead because of picture quality, colors are real and not saturated like x100's , black is real black, the shadows have great clarity, and the dynamic range of X1 is far superior than the x100. phancj Posted March 28, 2011 Share #490 Â Posted March 28, 2011 If you look at the list of improvements from the new FW that has surfaced it shows that leica is indeed committed to make the X1 as good as it can. Â So I think I am thankful that leica took its time to make one big upgrade, and am pretty sure it has been well-tested given the long time they took. I admit I am a little excited coz the X1 as it is is already very good, and leica's commitment of FW support would make me more confident of buying the X2. Â Good thing I will be traveling in May, with new FW in my X1. Not that I believe I will take better photos.
brill64 Posted March 28, 2011 Share #491  Posted March 28, 2011 Leica is horrible, apparently the new FW smears images??!! The nex FW upgrade was tremendous, probably why they are flocking to the x100 instead.  The nex is better than X1, the fuji is better than X1, now what??  Barjohn, go shoot some photos with the X100 for all of us to ogle and leave us poor X1 owners to wallow in self-pity at having bought a piece of crap that cannot AF and cannot take photos either. That'll be a more effective way to bring your point across.  be cool dear boy, you're (we're) going to be smiling soon..
peekpt Posted March 28, 2011 Share #492 Â Posted March 28, 2011 N_x1 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! look at x100 , it's so saturated, horrible shadows
Ecaton Posted March 28, 2011 Share #493  Posted March 28, 2011 N_x1 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! look at x100 , it's so saturated, horrible shadows  Can't conclude anything from these, but the guy's lack of talent.
Danielsan Posted March 28, 2011 Share #494 Â Posted March 28, 2011 I agree, it looks a bit over the top but the X1 can do pictures similar to this as well, just put saturation on high, contrast high and this lively color theme on. In this test on flickr i bet the "tester" had everything on low. I prefer the happy medium
diogenis Posted March 28, 2011 Share #495 Â Posted March 28, 2011 Well, nice improvememnts with this firmware! Most important is that now, manual focusing is way better than it used to be! Nice changes Leica!
jsrockit Posted March 28, 2011 Share #496 Â Posted March 28, 2011 Hey Rockit - will you shoot a before and after focus speed and macro video by any chance? Â No chance from me... I'm not a camera tester. I just use it. Not being difficult, but just not interested. Someone else will though... you know that.
jsrockit Posted March 28, 2011 Share #497 Â Posted March 28, 2011 The X1 has never had problems in normal to bright light, it is only in dim light that the AF slows down. Â This is simply not true. It is dead slow even in bright light.
Allnm Posted March 28, 2011 Share #498  Posted March 28, 2011 N_x1 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! look at x100 , it's so saturated, horrible shadows  This is the second lot of alleged comparisons from this guy. He must be so desperate to prove to everybody he hasn't just wasted a lot of money on a new camera!  Nearly firmware V2day!  Allan
thomsva Posted March 28, 2011 Share #499 Â Posted March 28, 2011 Is there any info about changes in how the camera locks up while writing buffered images to memory? I have had hopes that this could be improved.
prk60091 Posted March 28, 2011 Share #500 Â Posted March 28, 2011 This is simply not true. It is dead slow even in bright light. Â i guess your experience and definition of "dead slow" is different from cj's or mine- at home i tell my wife she has the heat up to high and I sweat- she is freezing- same couch same room same time.....the very definition of YMMV Â Â paul
