I hope this firmware release isn't a complete let-down once available.

How could doubling the AF speed be a complete letdown? Or the improvements to manual focus that the OP mentioned? The only way it would be a letdown is if Leica got rid of those improvements and gave us 'smile recognition' and scene modes like 'eBay sale item'. :D

These are the kinds of improvements which might tip me over to getting a X1. I have held back because of the slow AF speed, and if they improve it to decent standards, then this might be it.

Call me pessimistic, but I just don't trust anyone's opinion until I see it for myself. I've seen people rave about very minor differences in equipment before.

Nice one Martin. Do you work for leica or beta test? Wuld you agree the af speed is practically halved? Any other impressions you wish to share, or can share without violating NDA?

I'm a little confused why leica would wit so long to issue a full version upgrade rather than doing what most do and issuing incremental fixes ass they are achieved, especially if the major improvement is af..can't wait to try this firmware.

Would someone please comment on whether the constant aperture adjustment is fixed in 2.0 (that clicking you hear as you simply turn your camera to face different things regardless if you have the lcd off or aperture fixed on the dial)?

Also- what about write times in continuous mode- was it firmware or hardware limited?

Thanks

Look's like we're feeding the troll here

You are dead on- look at his photostream. He posts here and just says it's great with no other answers or comments, then posts to flickr saying it's available for download now without saying from where... What nonsense

Guys, just go here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-zur-leica-x1/136673-neue-software-f%C3%BCr-x1-ab-sofort.html

And translate it into english with google.

It's all a joke from this "MartinMann" guy. He even says that the new firmware comes with a "10-300mm lens".

I don't know if the guy who started this thread (ChiTown) is joking or not (I think he's for real), but "MartinMann" for sure is joking, just read what he says in his thread, just nonsenses.

My experience was no joke, I assure you I have far better things to do with my time in my exciting life. It's not hard for me to prove that I was at the Leica Workshop, and I believe my website and X1 images show I'm not just some troll.

I do however think Mr Mann is a funny guy! ;)

I stand by my comments about how the focus is vastly improved, and when the update is released you all will see for yourself. (or if any of you take the X1 workshop and meet Cristian from Leica in the meantime)

Cheers

Try to grow up. Trust me, live will be better once you get there.

God I hope not. Seems like there are many people on this site who take themselves and life far too serious.

While my little review is real, I think Mr Mann's time and effort to shine a little excitement into our lives (if you really are excited about a firmware update for a camera:rolleyes:) and poke a little fun at all the speculation for this little camera, is funny. I see it as trying to lighten things up a little, and judging from many reactions people need to smoke a joint, put on some music, relax, and enjoy life. Forget about growing up or growing old.

Have a great day! :D

The crowd dynamics on this forum are interesting and often like watching a Simpson's episode. The original poster went from Supa-Star to suspect in record time. There's a lot of latent anger in the Leica customer demographic so toying with that is risky;)

I didn't think so either.

And don't care what anyone believes. In a matter of weeks you'll see for yourself I'm honest and correct in my brief evaluation on v2.0. Hopefully we find there's more to be happy about too.

Funny, there's a real pattern that's apparent on this forum with most threads, and this one is following suit.
