usm Posted March 23, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 23, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi! The shutter of my M8 (2007) is broken after 27.221 uses. For how many uses is the shutter made? The CS in Solms told me already a price to replace the shutter - it's about the costs for a new V-Lux 20! Does somebody have similar problems? Thanks, Mario
Advertisement Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Hi usm, Take a look here M8 shutter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 23, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 23, 2011 Normally it will function much longer. Unfortunately there is no guaranteed number of actuations, so it seems you are plain unlucky. Sorry.
Shootist Posted March 23, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 23, 2011 It is supposed to be a 100,000 actuation shutter. If any of them ever make it to that number I will be totally surprised.
ho_co Posted March 23, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 23, 2011 Just curious, Mario-- That's the original M8 shutter, with top speed 1/8000? Did they quote both on replacing it and on installing the 1/4000 shutter instead? (I'm wondering if they will still install the original shutter.) Thanks, Mario My shutter of my M6 tinanisiert broke down in 32 uses. Shit happens! ( It was under warranty ) Leica ( Odin director )say it was one of 25 bad made Titans ( the weather was to hot that day. In the factory that lead to mistakes was his answer )
ho_co Posted March 25, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2011 Paulus, I love it! What a great response! And so perfectly German! "Well, it was hot that day, and four days before the traditional date for starting the air conditioning. And the cameras suffered." I'd have suggested something more along the lines of: "Well, there was this hot new chick on the line, and the cameras suffered that day. She's in Customer Service now." usm Posted April 11, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted April 11, 2011 It's done - I got a new shutter (1/8000 speed) with a accommodating solution. The CS was as every time: First contact is complicated, after talking to them everything was running fast. Thats the important part of CS. Thanks. ho_co Posted April 11, 2011 Share #12 Posted April 11, 2011 Mario, thanks for the update! That means they will replace the original shutter (nice to know) and there's life in the old girl yet (Leica, that is, as well as the CS chicks ).
