gsall Posted March 9, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) If I want to go for JPEG and Adobe RGB I must do the settings in 2 meny's. If I change back to RAW the colorspace change back to sRGB. Then If I want JPEG and Adobe RGB again I must pass 2 meny's again. Why can't the camera save the Adobe RGB settings for JPG until I decide to change to a different colorspace? /Göran Sweden
Advertisement Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Hi gsall, Take a look here RAW and jpg question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
t024484 Posted March 9, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2011 Because RAW has no color space. Hans
jaapv Posted March 9, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2011 Yes - but I can imagine it would be nice if the camera would remember the last setting when switching to JPG.

gsall Posted March 10, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted March 10, 2011 01af I have the latest firmware but I haven't check which colorprofile is attached to the picture only that the meny says sRGb after switching back to JPG from RAW and the last setting in JPG-mode was Adobe RGB. jaapv Posted March 10, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 10, 2011 Does it ? Thanks. I've never set my camera to JPG, and if I did I would do so for a use that would require sRGB.. As soon as you are post-processing you must use a large colorspace in raw conversion, and 16 bits too, so DNG is unavoidable.

01af Posted March 10, 2011 Share #9 Posted March 10, 2011 No it does not. The RGB setting is greyed out in DNG mode. We are talking about what happens when switching back to JPG or DNG+JPG mode.

01af Posted March 10, 2011 Share #13 Posted March 10, 2011 ... you quoted when I was editing it within one minute of posting, resulting in a misquote. Sorry. The RGB setting is greyed out in DNG mode. But, I just tried, when setting the camera to JPG and aRGB, and then switching back and forth between JPG and DNG will reset the JPG setting to sRGB—try it, Olaf. I tried—when switching from DNG to JPG, the camera perfectly restores the previous colour space setting, just as expected, and just as any digital camera I ever encountered does. And please, by the way—there is no such thing as 'aRGB.' The two RGB colour spaces usually available for in-camera JPEG conversion are sRGB and Adobe RGB. 250swb Posted March 10, 2011 Share #14 Posted March 10, 2011 Sorry. And please, by the way—there is no such thing as 'aRGB.' The two RGB colour spaces usually available for in-camera JPEG conversion are sRGB and Adobe RGB. I, and I think most other photographers, knows what Jaap means by using aRGB as shorthand. Steve

And please, by the way—there is no such thing as 'aRGB.' The two RGB colour spaces usually available for in-camera JPEG conversion are sRGB and Adobe RGB. Well, mine doesn't, but I am not either reloading firmware for this quirk, or sending it in as I never use this. And yes, I know that Adobe RGB is the correct term, but I used the Internet shorthand. And yes- I understand the remark. 'Cron and 'Lux are my pet hates...
gsall Posted March 10, 2011 Author Share #16 Posted March 10, 2011 Get serious guys and help each other and learn. This is the solution. If you change between RAW and JPG and back the colorspace will reset to sRGB, but if you put the camera in RAW anf JPG fine mode it will change to Adobe RGB and after that you can change between JPG and RAW and back to JPG and it will stay in Adobe RGB. Hope all is satisfied now. Thanks for you time, hope to see you all soon.
01af Posted March 10, 2011 Share #17 Posted March 10, 2011 If you change between raw and JPG and back the colorspace will reset to sRGB ... Maybe with your camera but not with mine. ... but if you put the camera in Raw and JPG Fine mode it will change to Adobe RGB ... Maybe your camera will but mine won't (unless it was set to Adobe RGB previously).
jaapv Posted March 10, 2011 Share #18 Posted March 10, 2011 And mine won't do either - so there seems to be some variation...
gsall Posted March 10, 2011 Author Share #19 Posted March 10, 2011 01AF But you wrote earlier: "I tried—when switching from DNG to JPG, the camera perfectly restores the previous colour space setting, just as expected, and just as any digital camera I ever encountered does." and now not ??? Try different settings RAW+JPG fine, RAW + jpg Basic and back to RAW and then just JPG. Try to press the release button sometimes turn the camera off and then on. The solutions must be here somewhere. I have firmware: 1.

Why "and now not?"? The solutions must be here somewhere. There is no problem and no unexpected behaviour with RGB colour space settings here, so no "solutions" required, wanted, or expected. I have firmware: 1.138 So have I.
