Advertisement Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Hi jgbossert, Take a look here M8 shutter reload problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jgbossert Posted July 5, 2012 Share #22 Posted July 5, 2012 Got the estimate from Leica Customer Service: 700 Euro for repair. The complete shutter unit has to be replaced.
jaapv Posted July 5, 2012 Share #23 Posted July 5, 2012 Well, considering the shutter unit costs something like 190 Euro ex VAT, and that they have to take the whole camera to pieces to replace it, that sounds about right. If there is anything else you want done, have it done at the same time.
jgbossert Posted July 5, 2012 Share #24 Posted July 5, 2012 I know, the biggest part is workmanship. The shutter itself costs only 132 Euro excl. VAT. But its okay, they do it here in Germany and they also have to pay their workers. Furthermore the final price includes 1 year warranty. So I hope it lasts longer after service :-)
jaapv Posted July 5, 2012 Share #25 Posted July 5, 2012 It has gone down then. When I had one replaced on my M8 in 2007 it was 168 Euro ex VAT, I assumed it had gone up.
jgbossert Posted July 13, 2012 Share #26 Posted July 13, 2012 Does anybody know or got told by Leica service, why the shutter had stopped working suddenly?
jaapv Posted July 14, 2012 Share #27 Posted July 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Often it is a problem with the toggle that senses the position of the curtain. It is explained clearly in post #4 of this thread.
