stunsworth Posted February 27, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've decided to start a new thread concerning the inaugural seaside challenge to be held in Brighton on the 16th of April. The 'rules' are as follows... Seaside challenge 2011.pdf Apologies if there are any typos, but I think we all recognise this is a social function rather than a legally binding contract. To summarise the meeting details, we will meet at noon on Saturday the 16th of April at the Terrace Bar and Grill opposite Brighton pier... The Terraces Brighton I decided that the proceeds should go to charity, and chose AICR as we have some links with them. There will however be a prize for the winner. See you there! farnz Posted February 27, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2011 Thanks for arranging this, Steve, and that's a clear set of rules. Are participants who are using a lens with multiple focal lengths or a zoom lens required to declare their focal length at the same times as film stock, camera etc? Pete. stunsworth Posted February 27, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted February 27, 2011 Pete, yes. The intention is that only one focal length is used
andybarton Posted February 27, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2011 Minor point of order, Mr Chairman. The DVD prize seems to be only in North-American DVD format... I will certainly try to get there if I can.
stunsworth Posted February 27, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted February 27, 2011 Andy, it'll work fine in a European player - the link is just to show what's on the DVD.
andybarton Posted February 27, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 27, 2011 I see...
stunsworth Posted February 28, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted February 28, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Looking for somewhere to stay Friday and Saturday night. Brighton doesn't seem to be the cheapest place to spend the night. Does anyone have any suggestions - I should add that ideally I'd like car parking. andybarton Posted February 28, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 28, 2011 The HIX's at Gatwick airport have rooms available for less than £50 per night that weekend. I will probably use one of those.
earleygallery Posted February 28, 2011 Share #9 Posted February 28, 2011 Steve, you might find the Hilton OK for weekend rates, and it's attached to the multi storey car park.
andybarton Posted February 28, 2011 Share #10 Posted February 28, 2011 £219/room/night might not be what Steve had in mind
earleygallery Posted February 28, 2011 Share #11 Posted February 28, 2011 I only mentioned it because I was going to stop over after a gig last year, but decided to drive back. I'm remember using one of the internet search sites and found rooms there for about £50.
bill Posted February 28, 2011 Share #12 Posted February 28, 2011 Steve, many thanks for organising this. It's in the diary Regards, Bill
stunsworth Posted March 2, 2011 Author Share #13 Posted March 2, 2011 Looks like I may have to stay down the coast and get the train in - most of the places I've looked at have been £100+ per night.
andybarton Posted March 2, 2011 Share #14 Posted March 2, 2011 I have family down that way, so I will bunk up with them.
stunsworth Posted March 2, 2011 Author Share #15 Posted March 2, 2011 Jeez, even Premier Inns is just under £250 for 2 nights. I'll do some proper research at the weekend when I have a fast internet connection.
earleygallery Posted March 3, 2011 Share #16 Posted March 3, 2011 laterooms.com seem to have some more resonably priced places. I'd also check with the local tourist info office for details of guest houses.
stunsworth Posted March 6, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted March 6, 2011 Room booked. In Worthing! Much cheaper than Brighton, and there's a train service every half hour.
ptarmigan Posted March 6, 2011 Share #18 Posted March 6, 2011 I'm booked in Brighton, found somewhere pretty cheap for 2 nights with parking. I'll be there Friday night if anyone's up for dinner!
stunsworth Posted March 7, 2011 Author Share #19 Posted March 7, 2011 I'll be there Friday night if anyone's up for dinner! I don't think I'll be able to make that. I'll be driving down from 'up north' on Friday afternoon and have no idea what time I'll get to my hotel in Worthing.
andybarton Posted March 7, 2011 Share #20 Posted March 7, 2011 I will be driving down on the Saturday morning. Going to be an early start. 275 miles, apparently.
