Dear all,

greetings from Singapore. Just got me a8.2 last week(used) and a new 35/2.5.

Look the camera and the lens. Just some help needed here:

1. I have a card reader and somehow cant cut and paste the DNG files into Capture 1 SW(which i downloaded from leica)

2. I have tried connecting directly using a non-leica usd cable but the error says "no images stored" This was after I had transferred the images from sd card to the card reader

3. My SD card now is 100% free(ie.can take 999 pixs)

4. My pictures that was in the SD card are now stored in 'my pictures folder' but can be viewed since its DNG format

Sorry for asking these 'duh' questions

Thanks

Open C1, go to the library (tab symbol on the far left), and click on the folder in the list " system folders" . Download " Imageingester" and use that in future. Keep on using your cardreader.

Dear Jaap,

Thanks for your prompt response.

Cant open the library in C1

The program that I downloaded from leica is called Leica Digital Capture 1.0

It doesnt have any "libray" on the left tab.

It just have a screen of the M8 and right hand side is User profiles 1-4.

There is an option "capture", :saving location" and a status say " no camera"

Some comments:

1. I am using windows 7

2. do i need to purchase a C1 since I bought this camera used and doesnt have the C1 software?

Thanks again a million

Leica Digital Capture is for remote control of the camera, with automatic transfer of just-made picture to computer.

You can use any software you want for raw processing. The camera came with a license for version 3.something of Capture One. If the registration code was used by the original purchaser, there's no freebie Capture One with the camera.

Some folks swear by Capture One, others by Photoshop, others by Lightroom, others by other raw processors. With the M9 and the S2, Leica is supplying Lightroom. That does you no good, but it does mean that for whatever reason, Leica has chosen to go with the big boys, Adobe.

Welcome to the forum, Rosewood!

I don't understand what you're saying above. The images are transferred from your SD card through your card reader and into your computer. If that's what you meant then that's fine.

You would do well to make a habit of removing the SD card from the M8, plugging it into your computer's card reader and downloading you photos that way. Using a USB cable between camera and computer tends to cause problems.

Pete.

Pete, I think rosewood is confusing Capture One (often referred to as C1 on the forum) and Leica Digital Capture version 1.0.

Unfortunately, we can't access his hard drive to see his screenshot.

Ah - that is something quite different. Sorry for the confusion, the acronym C1 is normally used for Capture One, a top- notch raw converter.

You need a decent post-processing program. Picasa, although it works more or less, is not the first choice. I would recommend that you purchase Lightroom 3. You can download a free trial version from Adobe's website to familiarize you with the program.
