The FIDRI cable release, available as from 1931, is not very common in collections. It displays an interesting and unique characteristic, beside its 3 metre/10 feet length : it is the only Leitz cable release with fingers supports at the pusher end. What makes sense, since the effort to actuate such a long cable is noticeable.

Here are 3 photos, including one of the Leitz logo stamped on the pusher.

I love those older, long releases. So many of the releases made today are so stiff that the camera can move under the release's pressure. (In desperate conditions I will use an air-bulb and piston release.)

Thanks for the pictures. I'd never seen that one. I'd love to find a similar release today.

This long cable release is not working as the usal ones, usually the cable circulates in its sheath, as explained in the box of Pecole picture, this one must stays as straight as possible, because actuating the telescopic push button, move the complete wire to compress the telescopic set, screwed on the body release sleeve, this is why there are the 2 finger support.

The one I illustrate is a little bit different. showing the transparent tubus to protect the other fingers and the spring back close to the bell connector.
