Beta Photography Posted February 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, greetings from Tokyo, Japan. I am new to this forum, but I have question regarding these 2 match up (M3 and Google Summicron 35mm). Somehow, they're not vertically aligned when it's focused. My M3 is fine with other lenses, even with the DR summicron 50mm. Only this google summicron 35 that is not vertically aligned. Reminds me of my Hexar RF with some Leica lens as they're also not in vertically aligned (but it's fine with hexanon lens). Has anyone experience the same thing as I am? Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
Advertisement Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Hi Beta Photography, Take a look here Leica M3 & 35mm Google Summicron. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
harryzet Posted February 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2011 your google is out of whack. if you are experienced you can adjust it yourself. on the left "eye" (when looking at the camerafront) are three tiny screws on the black rim of the eye. if you loosen or tighthen them accordinmgly you can adjust vertical and horizontal alignment. i would give it to a qualified repairman, as the repair is quite cheap. its here http://www.photoindica.com/blog/2010/09/04/aligning-a-leica-m3-rangefinder/

I will bring the lens to my local repair shop to have it re-adjust, well...it's an old lens but I love the sharpness of this lens and the bokeh too
gvaliquette Posted February 17, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 17, 2011 I had the same problem with a 35mm f2.8 goggled Sumaron for my M3. I tried the "do it yourself" solution mentioned above, but nothing changed in the viewfinder! I then brought it to Sherry Krauter, who did fix it, but she told me, when I picked up the lens again, that the adjusting screws were frozen and that she had to drill them out and replace them. The lens (and view through the M3 finder) is now perfect. Thanks, Sherry. Guy
Beta Photography Posted February 18, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted February 18, 2011 I fix my google summicron, actually it's nothing wrong. Just the right google's window is little bit loose (I didn't check that one before. So when I tighten it, the focus back to normal perfect matching. I went to official Leica shop they said it cost about 30,000 yen (about 300USD) to correct the google focus, so I thought about it again. Then I found out at home that the right google was loose
