wetworx Posted February 17, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted February 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) so I just exchanged a faulty 'Leica EXTENDER-R 2x (11 237)' for an 'Leica Extender-SL 2x', that would actually mounts to my lenses and bodies (R and EOS via adapter). Â Assuming the R version is not APO, the difference is meter couplings and aperture linkage. The SL version has none so you meter at working aperture on R, SL or EOS cameras. Overgaard Posted February 17, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted February 17, 2011 The SL version will only fit the Leicaflex cameras (as far as I know; if it would actually fit the R may be, but it was made in the SL era). Â A non-APO (older and rather useless, at least the 2X, haven't tried the 1.4X) and APO (the new version and very good) exist for the R cameras, and this one will fit Leicaflex and R. Unless it has ROM contacts in which case it can't be used on the Leicaflex cameras. jaapv Posted February 18, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted February 18, 2011 Personally I think a non-APO 2x extender is not worth using. It degrades image quality to an extent that a 50% crop is preferable. The 2x APO extender (and the 1.4x), well that is a different story Those two you can even stack (not recommended by Leica) and get good results. The 1.4 only exists in APO afaik.
