By dropping my M2 on to a slate floor the prisms have parted company, my repair man tells me it is a write off, as glueing the prisms back is almost impossible, and tells me the last time he got a prism from leica they cost more than the camera is worth, any clues to what I can do to fix it

thanks

I have myself re assembled prisms with modest success. The tricky bit is not to clean too much off the remaining silver when taking the balsam off. The other is selecting the correct adhesive. I have had to have a prism re coated and getting the correct ratio of transmission is not easy. I'm suprised that a repair technician is not familiar with the procedure, its not rocket science.

....or try Malcolm Taylor, he can re-cement lens elements so a prisms should be possible

Is he in Ledbury? I think he repaired my father's M3 about 30 years ago!! Could that be him?

I now have that M3 and the prism was recently described to me by Leica in HK as not repairable. However Solms is putting in a prism from an M6. The overall repair cost isn't really worth it but the body has sentimental value to me so I am having it done anyway.

He's at Aymestrey, technically Herefordshire, but actually out in the sticks near Leominster. Quite an interesting experience to go there!
