GuyonyConnexion Posted February 4, 2011 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Would a modern 35 mm and 28 mm [summicron/Elmarit for instance] work with the M3 viewfinder with an external viewfinder ?
Advertisement Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi GuyonyConnexion, Take a look here M3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Austinite Posted February 4, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2011 I use a very sharp Voigtlander 35 2.5 M mount and matching finder all the time with my M3. The finder is aluminum and looks great on the M3. For critical focus you do need to jump back and forth between the rangefinder and the top finder but it's really not a big deal for many situations. thomasw_ Posted February 4, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2011 It is do-able even without an auxiliary finder, using the entire VF to simulate the 35 frame, I use a goggled v2 summilux-m 35/1,4 on my M3, and it works like a charm. I avoid auxiliary finders because I don't like composing and focusing in different windows.
wizard Posted February 4, 2011 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2011 Would a modern 35 mm and 28 mm [summicron/Elmarit for instance] work with the M3 viewfinder with an external viewfinder ? Sure, why not? No problem at all, except getting used to the external viewfinder. But then you need that for anything under 28mm anyway, at least as far as film M-cameras are concerned. gyoung Posted February 4, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2011 Would a modern 35 mm and 28 mm [summicron/Elmarit for instance] work with the M3 viewfinder with an external viewfinder ? My M3 usually has 400 ISO Provia in it as the 'poor light' camera when I'm travelling, and spends a lot of time with a Voigtlander 28/1.9 on it for available light interiors. I use the Voigtlander 28/35 mini finder, and thus get frames for 28 to 135 available on the camera. Gerry

mzcloud Posted February 22, 2011 Share #7 Posted February 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have used a 28mm on a M3. Just have to estimate the framelines and go with your feel.
