Advertisement Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi semrich, Take a look here Blue Mosque. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted January 23, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 23, 2007 If it's supposed to be blue, there's something wrong with your WB, Richard. This is interesting. I suspect that there are some great detail shots to be had too.
semrich Posted January 23, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted January 23, 2007 Tourists refer to it as the Blue Mosque I suspect because the domes are blue, the locals call it Sultan Ahmet Cami. There are some great detail shots around and in it, and if you could see this at 100% you would be amazed at the detail in this.
stuny Posted January 23, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2007 richard - An angle and time of day that I am envious that I didn't catch, even though we lodged in the same place, quite close to this view. Lovely light, detail, colors and composition.
stunsworth Posted January 23, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2007 It's been years since I was last in Istabbul and I really must go back. There's so much to see there. I was probably there last in the late 80s, staying in a small hotel just around the corner from Agia Sophia. The old Galatas bridge was still there with the restaurants underneath the walkway. A nice spot to have a cold beer at the end of the day and watch the world go by. Nice shot, it captures the atmosphere very well.
kamilsukun Posted January 23, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 23, 2007 Richard, Lovely shot. Thanks for sharing. Steve, Why not chose Istanbul for your next trip. In fact we could organize a forum meeting here. Istanbul might be full of photographic opportunities.
richam Posted January 23, 2007 Share #7 Posted January 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Richard, I lived in Istanbul for a few years, and never found the perserverance, energy, and artistic eye necessary to chase a shot like this. I really admire your choice of vantage point and time of day that make this a superb composition. The night lights on the mosque don't look so nice when one is there, but the oddball and somewheat eerie colors really work on this shot when contrasted with the sunset colors. And the timing was perfect -- all elements balanced with good exposure. Well done.
