Blue Mosque

Tourists refer to it as the Blue Mosque I suspect because the domes are blue, the locals call it Sultan Ahmet Cami.

There are some great detail shots around and in it, and if you could see this at 100% you would be amazed at the detail in this.

It's been years since I was last in Istabbul and I really must go back. There's so much to see there. I was probably there last in the late 80s, staying in a small hotel just around the corner from Agia Sophia. The old Galatas bridge was still there with the restaurants underneath the walkway. A nice spot to have a cold beer at the end of the day and watch the world go by.

Nice shot, it captures the atmosphere very well.

Richard,

I lived in Istanbul for a few years, and never found the perserverance, energy, and artistic eye necessary to chase a shot like this. I really admire your choice of vantage point and time of day that make this a superb composition. The night lights on the mosque don't look so nice when one is there, but the oddball and somewheat eerie colors really work on this shot when contrasted with the sunset colors. And the timing was perfect -- all elements balanced with good exposure. Well done.
