semrich Posted January 21, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 21, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm going to move from my Intel iMac to a new Mac Mini using MIgration Assistant and I'm not sure if CS3 will copy over without problems. Adobe's site is incomprehensible regarding how to do that so I'm seeking help here.

Walt Calahan Posted January 21, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2011 Usually with Adobe produces you have to deactivate one copy and then active the version copied to the new computer. If this fails, call Adobe, explain the transfer, and they'll give you a new activation code for the copy on your new computer.
jaapv Posted January 21, 2011 Share #3 Posted January 21, 2011 CS5 is so much advanced beyond CS3 that it might be worth your while to upgrade anyway. Especially with an M8 you will appreciate the jump in noise reduction, quite apart from all the improvements like adjustment layers and extended editing options in ACR. semrich Posted January 21, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted January 21, 2011 Walt, thank you for your input, I will give the deactivate a go after I migration. Jaap, thanks for the suggestion about CS5, I will most likely stay with CS3 awhile longer because I rarely use the M8 and prefer B&W film, developing it myself, scanning it, and doing very minimal post processing in Photoshop. I plan to get a inkjet printer this year, if CS5 offers some improvement in B&W printing that's when I will go for it.
andybarton Posted January 21, 2011 Share #5 Posted January 21, 2011 I have never had a problem migrating any programs, Adobe or not.
