miss_emma_jade Posted January 26, 2011 Share #9 Posted January 26, 2011 hmmm ive got most of this worked out... however... ive run against a little hitch. when i pull the centre peice out i discover there is a felt stuck in place and this makes re inserting it a problem. therefore the base needs to come apart, there is a cover on top with two indents in, that look like they are for unscrewing it. mine moves 1/2 turn and looks to be tightening again. anyone know how this removes? im sure once its apart i can fix the felt and make it all like new again. help someone?? jc_braconi Posted January 26, 2011 Author Share #10 Posted January 26, 2011 Just a stupid question when you UNscrew You turn the plate ANTIclockwise ? if it stuck you can drop some Kroil and let for 24 hours the felt need to be cleaned with lighter fluid next dried and a the end oiled before re inserting the tube. Emma There is no lock screw, I use berylium clamps to unscrew this plate, not the spans, because the 2 halves are milled round and I have not the precise part to set on the spans. if you unscrew for 1/2 turn you can get a gap in between the 2 pieces, drop some light oil in and be patient, wait for 24 hour. Emma Fine ! I reread your first posts, you mean that the felt was stuck on the tube ? Have you soacked the tube in lighter fluid to unstuck it ?
