marknorton Posted December 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting that after many months, the Russian Forum has managed 13 threads and a heady 100 or so posts, in total. There may be some reason I do not know why the forum was introduced but a French, Spanish or even Australian forum would have seen more use.

jaapv Posted December 31, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 31, 2010 It would be nice if Andreas somehow hooked a translation program into the Russian forum. The rationale of the Russian forum escapes me as well. Japanese might have been more logical.

aesop Posted December 31, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) ...perhaps they simply do not choose to chatter online like you Westerners. Where did the impetus for the creation of the Russian forum come from (apart from the "analysis" of sales figures, that is)?

aesop Posted December 31, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 31, 2010 ...okay, Jaap and Andy, this one's for you - Western cultures map. Nothing new or radical here, but I hope it helps buttress the thrust of my original post.
stunsworth Posted December 31, 2010 Share #11 Posted December 31, 2010 Are you saying that there are no Internet forums or social network sites outside of 'western culture'? It's more likely that the forum isn't active because few people know it exists IMHO.

Hi Jaap, One more place for you to become the most popular poster With a little help from a new translation program on your new computer and perhaps a Russian nurse in your office. This way you could make lots of new friends and take us along to the World Cup. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! Simon

hoppyman Posted December 31, 2010 Share #16 Posted December 31, 2010 Comrade Norton, the solution may instead lie in excising parts of the current international forum and placing them under Russian administration instead! Alternatively, recidivist recalcitrant reactionary Posters could be administravely exiled there, simply by mandating that they only post in Cyrillic script. On the other hand it is true that the Australian contingent could indeed be viable as a discrete entity. Just one or so members that we may sanction to be deported under the new regime. Happy New Year mate! Interesting that after many months, the Russian Forum has managed 13 threads and a heady 100 or so posts, in total. ho_co Posted January 1, 2011 Share #19 Posted January 1, 2011 ... a French, Spanish or even Australian forum would have seen more use. But Mark, the French and Spanish already speak English. And my wishes to all for a Happy New Year as well.

If you use Firefox and install the google browser-bar add-in, there is a button on that which will automatically translate web pages for you. It works very well.
