stunsworth Posted December 22, 2010 Share #83 Posted December 22, 2010 It's been a bad year photographically - for me at least. I'm hoping I'll find my mojo again in 2011. Anyhow, I've chosen this one to represent my best of the year. Taken at a Viking gathering near Tyldesley - the town is on the map if you look hard enough. Welcome, dear visitor! 57andrew Posted December 23, 2010 Share #86 Posted December 23, 2010 I am not sure I am up to this but nothing ventured...... I started using an M9 at the end of April and enjoy the simplicity. This image is one of the few I would dare post, mainly because I like the contrast in age rather than any technical excellence. Happy holidays, folks Andrew Welcome, dear visitor! ldhrads Posted December 23, 2010 Share #88 Posted December 23, 2010 Andrew I love the way the two women are "almost" looking at each other. The contrast works well! Nice street shot. While it's great for it's color, I'd love to see it in B&W
Reds Posted December 23, 2010 Share #89 Posted December 23, 2010 I think this one for me. I just love that look. I took a first shot and was given the finger! Always a risk with street shots. Went back and showed her the pic and asked if I could take another one, to which she obliged me. This was it. Splendid! Welcome, dear visitor! Marquinius Posted December 23, 2010 Share #91 Posted December 23, 2010 Shown before as 'Crossing the Rhine'. Can't say that it excited anybody but I still count it as one of my best of 2010. M8Most of my friends would say "In that case we hope that you have a better 2011." Bob, Completely off my chart photography. So ... I'm intrigued. Which is not a bad accomplishment. Art is a dialogue, or at least should be. Now we're talking. Still off the chart, but it touches something. Not bad, not bad at all.
Marquinius Posted December 23, 2010 Share #92 Posted December 23, 2010 Had to really think this one through, but here is my final decision on "My Best of 2010" [April 2010] Stranger in the Night at the Tribeca Grand Hotel One of my first attempts at employing Ben's (roguewave) "just-man-up-and-ask-for-a-photo" approach to photography. Admittedly this was after a few drinks, and I'm pretty sure at one point in the conversation I told her I was in love with her before she kindly allowed me to take this photo. So, I suppose I enjoy this photo more for process than results. But what a photo ... I could fall in love with these eyes. So you got your message across marvelously. What I like besides the eyes is that it is actually a very "normal" picture. No glitz and special effects, pow, click.

Went back and showed her the pic and asked if I could take another one, to which she obliged me. This was it. Splendid! I'm sure I like the story a little more than the photo (which isn't half bad). So where's the other shot?
Marquinius Posted December 23, 2010 Share #94 Posted December 23, 2010 In the end I just decided to show the last Leica photo I took. No tricks involved, just happy to live in an area where meeting wildlife is possible. Welcome, dear visitor! erl Posted December 24, 2010 Share #96 Posted December 24, 2010 Personally, I have had an exciting year. Photographically I have captured heaps of 'postcards' and 'personal moments', but to distil out the 'best' is a very emotive thing. I try to avoid shooting works of art by others, unless I can significantly add something to the work. For this thread I have chosen a brief moment, captured in Florence. The raised hands seemed to empathize with the spirit of the sculptures. I hope my addition has not detracted from those classic sculptures. My best? Who knows! M9 + 75mm 'cron. likalar Posted December 24, 2010 Share #98 Posted December 24, 2010 Erl, Thanks for posting that! Verrry nice! For me, a lot of the most successful photographs have an element of humor. Your shot tickles the bones. Nicely done! Larry

erl Posted December 24, 2010 Share #100 Posted December 24, 2010 Likalar I must say your pic is definitely one of the 3 or 4 top images so far, IMO. It takes me back to an image I made years ago, with a ladder and a giant t-shirt poster and two men "pegging out" the shirt. Yours has fabulous simplicity and great composition that would test the reflexes of anyone to capture. Bravo
