You can post a shot that you have posted before, as long as it was taken during 2010.

This is one of the first shots taken with my MP4. I have posted it before, and it didn't attract as much comment as some other shots but I have gone for it because it was deliberate - I "saw" this shot a number of times when travelling into and out of London but on this day all the elements came together.

 

Comments and criticism welcome.

I'll post something later this week when I'm home - though 2010 has been far from being a vintage year for me.

 

As for your shot, I think it would have looked better flipped vertically - I don't have Photoshop on this PC, so I've had to judge that by trying to look at it upside down - though I drew the line at standing on my head.

Bill, the picture does not work for me: looking at it the eye just swirls around, goes to the upside down man and goes to the fuzzy o-o-f rack and ceiling — nothing wrong with things being o-o-f, but in this picture the in-focus area is not interesting enough graphically. Looking at the picture further, one then wonders why is there are mirror in the baggage rack, is that really a mirror...? Ambiguity can work, but it doesn't here.

 

Unfortunately, I cannot play the game because my M8 and M9 pictures are from 2009 and my M6 are from 2006 and earlier.

Here's one that I consider one of my best of the year. Totally unplanned.

You can read a life in this man's face, maybe not an easy life but a life lived. I like the way he is looking out of the picture which I see as a look into the future, the unknown, still might not be easy but he'll face it.

The trees in the background would be better if they weren't there but sometimes you have only millisecs and it is take it or miss it. Wish it were one of mine.

Dave, I like the composition with the whitecaps, but overall it looks overprocessed with the blocky clouds and seemingly oversharpened horizon.

Excellent. I can see that you are in the USA but that looks is reminiscent of the North Sea off the coast of Belgium.

At Epcot in Disneyworld Florida, I only live a little over an hour away. As we were leaving in the evening there are fiber optic lights in the major exit area that fade in and out. I had forgotten about these, I had been shooting the M9/Noctilux combination all day. I saw this little girl enjoying the sidewalk. The original has the white balance all wrong but I like the b&w conversion. The motion really worked for me too. I was pleased when LFI put it on the website, made me feel a bit like I knew what I was doing! I've seen plenty of shots from others on this forum here and at LFI that made me wonder when I would really catch something. This time, quite unexpectedly I thought I did...

Thanks John for commenting. I didn't burn it deliberately, in the original you could even make out her tiny glasses. Unfortunately, that was one detail of this that I let slip by when I got it to where I liked it.

I remember your shot when it you put it up earlier. Then I didn't like the reflections, too busy. Now it works better for me. I like the juxtaposition of the bas relief and the angle of the carpet. The bridge reflection seems to draw the whole together.

I really enjoy shots that show motion and so now I understand this. Marvelous. Edit - No, I can't say 'marvelous' it is meaningless according to the instructions. So, the image captures the fascination of the little girl. While life swirls around her she is unmoved. Perhaps that is her brother come to collect her, he seems to be trying to keep still. It tells a story and you can develop it in a number of ways so it is a feel good shot. Hope that is not meaningless.
