In line with forum rules... Leica body, lens or both.

Keep 'em coming, and thanks for the comments on my shot so far. Just to reiterate - this is for the single shot that you feel is your best this year - the one single shot that you feel is worthy of putting up on your wall.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks for starting this Bill.

Robert

A bit too much post card, but it captures the time and the place for me

This one already is on the wall. :) But it has been taken a million times before ;)

My very best shots (IMHO) have not been with Leica cameras this year.

Composition, lighting, subject all combine to make this a much admired image.

One of my shots of my wife's battle with cancer, successful battle I may add.

relating to another ongoing discussion . . . this image is a bold and edgy landscape . . . on the edge of the "conventional" platform and waiting for the "outbound" train.

I too assume you mean with a Leica and only having had mine a few weeks my choice is limited.

This shot for me shows the capabilities of the D-Lux

shooting something as delicate as a windflower into the sun

No the shot isn't a world beater but it still pleases me.

This is one of the first shots taken with my MP4. I have posted it before, and it didn't attract as much comment as some other shots but I have gone for it because it was deliberate - I "saw" this shot a number of times when travelling into and out of London but on this day all the elements came together.

Comments and criticism welcome. Bill

I had to look at this several times. Technically strong but it is challeging to view. Overall it is one that will stand out and is a strong photograph in the Leica tradition. Chris

My submission – ... The pond in front of it is a salt pond, and we stopped here for lunch. What a view.

Stuny

Yes a wondeful setting with great promise. I love the vista but I do find the clump of grass in the foreground distracting. Chris

This was posted a week or so ago. My best Leica shot this year? Not sure: so many different types of photo having so many different roles in my life, so I am not sure. Would I post it on the wall? Maybe. My M8.2 is fighting back against lots of strong competition - with a little help of some investment in new lenses. This one with a 2.5/35mm Summarit. Chris

Becoming.

The first time I met Jessica was at a party: She came with a friend of a friend and didn’t speak much, just sat on a chair…

I haven’t seen her again for almost a year and I didn’t even know she performed in a night club, until her boyfriend told me she wanted some pictures of herself getting ready for the show.

Reluctantly, in shyness, I agreed to follow him to her house.

“Hel-lo…” I stuttered.

“This is your home” she said softly; “Feel free…”

So I poured myself a drink and begun to get familiar with my surroundings. Shortly after, I was in her changing room: She was doing her make-up and seemed quite comfortable with me being there. Therefore, shy no more, I started looking at her through the viewfinder…

The results of the transformation were astonishing, and the pleasure of being introduced to this wonderful person brought on the honour of being her photographer for that evening, allowing me to witness her becoming.

Thank you, Jessica…

I have to say that for me this is the best so far; classic B&W Leica full of atmosphere and spontaneity. Chris

I have to agree. I wasn't going to comment yet, but that is a stand-out shot.

Bill

There is raw human feeling, tension, yet tenderness in your shot, Mauro. Exquisite!

I'm sorry, Bill, but I think you've done yourself a massive disservice.

For all the merit in the shot you've posted I regret that it is just not in the same league as the one you took in Venice of the man jumping from the boat to the shore. That one is quitessentially "Leica" in its portrayal of the 'decisive moment'. I think that one is my favourite of any that I've seen posted in the forum this year and I do hope you bend your own rules on this occasion and allow yourself to post it and allow us all to enjoy it again.

Hell, if you can't bend the rules then send it to me and I'll post it and pretend it's mine - it would be an honour.:D

Pete.
