Overgaard Posted December 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just had a 90/2.5 around Leica Customer Service as I had managed to beat it to pieces. Came back after few days, opened the box, took a test shot to check the sharpness. 100% precise focus. I can't suggest hard enough that anyone who feel uncertain their equipment is 100% precise send it in to Leica in Solms for adjustment. When a camera is adjusted, and the lenses too, it's 100% precise and any error in focus will be you or the subject moving. Much easier to photograph when you have that certainty. It's a misunderstanding that camera and lenses has to be "matched." They don't. If each piece is adjusted to factory standard, any pieces will work 100% perfect with any other piece of equipment or camera that is also adjusted to factory standard (goes for the R9/DMR as well, by the way). jplomley Posted December 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 17, 2010 Wish I had a similar story to share about Leica service, unfortunately there's not enough bandwidth to share my four month nightmare.
Shootist Posted December 17, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 17, 2010 Wish I had a similar story to share about Leica service, unfortunately there's not enough bandwidth to share my four month nightmare. Yes the real problem with Leica service is that it is totally not equal. Some get great service, with loaner cameras or other equipment, with fast turnaround, even with loaner stuff, and others go through a nightmare to get something fixed and the camera back to them. Been there done that and that is one reason I am not even looking at, and never really have, buying a M9. If I have to go through what I did with both of my M8's to get the cameras to function properly in all respects I'd end up driving to Leica NJ and get arrested. tdtaylor Posted December 17, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 17, 2010 Since I am one with several service nightmares with NJ USA, I am now quick to point out some recent successes. Last night I received a surprise from Leica- they were replacing a front lens element on a 90 APO, which had unfortunately come in contact with my wife's wedding ring-diamond do scratch lens coatings deeply. Including shipping, total turnaround 3 and a half weeks. Haven't opened it, but I sure it is up to their usual standards.

Absolutely tack sharp with my M9. I was worried it would be off, as I have all my other lenses working well. Thanks Leica, great job.
