this scene cries for large format, but well done (I know a photographer who would have ordered a lorry to carry a huge stone into the foreground :D ).

If possible I would try to work out the sky/cloud structures a little bit.

Excellent! Works very, very well in b&w.

 

Thankfully you didn't go for the 'rock in the foreground' composition :-). That's as much of a cliche as the use of Velvia is in colour shots. Both have been done to death IMHO.

 

Every so ofton a shot comes along and I think 'I wish I'd taken that'. This is one of those.

Thanks all for your comments. I wonder if it would be better if I used an orange/yellow filter. I have since acquired one and will experiment next time.

 

Never mind now, but you can use photoshop to enhance the sky, and see if you like the results.

I agree the image would balance better with a darker sky.
