pgeobc Posted December 11, 2010 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) When I bought my X1, I bought an extra Leica battery for a backup. However, when I store my camera, turned off, the battery seems to lose its charge fairly rapidly, e.g., over several weeks. I kept the second battery so that when I retrieved my X1 from storage, I could put a battery with a "whole" charge in it and get around the problem. However, the backup battery seems to lose its charge, too, even though it has only been in a plastic storage case. So, I'm back to square one. What's up? Any solutions? Thanks. nigelb Posted December 11, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2010 I don't have an X1, but all lithium batteries behave the same. I don't have this problem with all the batteries for my other cameras, but then they don't sit around for weeks unused. Any solutions? Thanks. pgeobc Posted December 11, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted December 11, 2010 Well, I'm going to have to back off and do some reconnoitring, I guess. The manual clearly shows a white battery indicator as indicating a discharged battery or one that needs replacement. However, when I place a fully charged battery in the camera, I get an all-white battery indicator. What that means is that 1) my camera is backwards from the book or 2) both batteries, which are relatively new, need replacing. Maybe the camera is screwed up? I'm going to do some extended shooting and see how it behaves. If it behaves otherwise normally, I guess I don't care what color the indicator is. Anyway, thanks. RockyIII Posted December 12, 2010 Share #4 Posted December 12, 2010 I had not noticed that before, but you're right. There is nothing wrong with your camera. The X1 instruction manual has the battery charge level graphics reversed. Rocky
