Advertisement Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Hi allamande, Take a look here Piñon Tree: past and present. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
daveleo Posted December 4, 2010 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2010 absolutely love the shapes, the interacting colors and the lines running here and there.
pauledell Posted December 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2010 Ece, Wonderful dynamic shot with the great composition, colors and sharpness. I'd like to see this in b&w also. Paul

allamande Posted December 7, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted December 7, 2010 Dave, Paul, and Stuart, Thank you! I thought it was so poignant for the dead and the living to be together like this, both of them equally fantastic looking (to my eyes, anyway). I tried my hand at BW and here it is. The sky needs more work. But I can see the potential. Paul, thank you for suggesting it. Ece

I agree that the sky needs tweaking.(the clear sky in the upper left corner is too dark in my opinion). Paul
lanetomlane Posted December 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted December 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lovely image, much prefer the colour as the sky in the B&W doesn't do it for me. ___________________________ Regards, Tom Photography by Tom Lane
vdb Posted December 9, 2010 Share #8 Posted December 9, 2010 Love it on b&w...I'd just drop the contrast a few notches from the sky...the drama is all in the piñon pine. And there is nothing more intoxicating than burning piñon in a Santa Fe kiva fireplace:) have you ever had piñon infused coffee?
allamande Posted December 12, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted December 12, 2010 Virgil, Thank you! And, you are killing me with that description. My very first memory of piñon burning in a kiva is from Bandelier visitors center (believe it or not) from many years ago. It's an incomparable smell and taste, one that is rich and a complex (like a spice jar). I know the piñon infused coffee well and love it (I sometimes add it to chocolate mouse!). Here is to dreaming of Santa Fe! Ece
daveleo Posted December 12, 2010 Share #10 Posted December 12, 2010 Love it on b&w...I'd just drop the contrast a few notches from the sky...the drama is all in the piñon pine. And there is nothing more intoxicating than burning piñon in a Santa Fe kiva fireplace:) have you ever had piñon infused coffee? like the B&W bit i still favor the color at the moment, and agree with these comments on the B&W . . . the pinion pine is the drama. (we have our fireplace going today . . . the old pine boards from the remodelled basement . . . not exotic or aromatic by any means )
michali Posted December 12, 2010 Share #11 Posted December 12, 2010 Ece- This is superb & very dramatic, which I think is better relayed in the colour version. Best
allamande Posted December 17, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted December 17, 2010 Dave and Mike, Thank you for giving me your opinion on this. As always, I appreciate the input very much. I tend to find the color to be more energetic (I have a weakness for all that red soil and rock ) Dave, keep the fire going and enjoy it for me too; throw some orange peel on the fire for sizzle and aroma (and, eat the orange while the aroma fills the room ).
