Artefact?

The artifact next to the pram handle looks like a man to me. :D

Plus, he's so engrossed in his newspaper that he hasn't noticed his baby's done a runner.

Funny how WE can get so involved with a shot that WE don't notice things in the background BEFORE WE take the shot. Only after when WE are looking at it then notice that WE should of been more aware of what is behind the subject of our image.

Happens to me all the time but yet I still focus on what I want in the shot and not what I might catch that I don't want.

I guess this what separated the amateur photog from the REAL Pros in the field. Or is it just dumb luck or the lack there of.

What that is I have no idea but it is supposed to be there. It is not a artifact. It may be a sign of some type, seen from the edge/side of it and may not be there when you go back.

But the lens wasn't good enough to 'resolve' the fine details of the hair on top of his head. Was that an Aspherical or Pre-Asperical Lens? You might want to upgrade.

And like any good photographer the Original Poster got the photograph before searching for the missing baby! Good For You!

Query: Could the Artefact 'above' the pram be a short decorative light post for demarking the curved side walk?

It's the pram's GPS sender so the kid can find its way back. :p
