iangee Posted December 21, 2010 Share #21 Posted December 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) "A half case helps, I guess, for the feel of the camera, and to slow down the cooling off." +1 I only recently got my case from Mr Zhou but it is very welcome in this present cold spell, warm to the touch, and insulating the battery area. Advertisement Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Hi iangee, Take a look here Operating temperature for m9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
albertknappmd Posted December 22, 2010 Share #22 Posted December 22, 2010 Glad to read that the M9 works at low temperatures. We are off to the Antarctic next month and I will bring two M8s in Luigi halfcases as well as my S2. I reamin optimistic that all three will perform well and will report back upon my return. coup de foudre Posted December 22, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 22, 2010 i have been using mine in below freezing weather for the past week and a half without any problem. the only issue i have had, really, is a problem with the VF fogging up when it goes into a bar or coffee shop for a warm-up break... this can last up to 45 minutes, on and off. any suggestions to keep this from happening other than holding my breath? rbujapan18 Posted January 4, 2011 Share #28 Posted January 4, 2011 Took the M9 skiing and exposed to -9C for half a day and wet with snow. It shoots without any issues which surprises me given the camera body was getting very cold.
michaelwilson Posted January 5, 2011 Share #29 Posted January 5, 2011 Took the M9 Ice Climbing in Big Sky Montana a few days ago when it was -17F, and had no problems. Even changed lenses a couple of times (in the camera bag, of course, it was snowing), no issues.
david strachan Posted January 5, 2016 Share #30 Posted January 5, 2016 On the other end of the thermometer... I was using my M8 in over 420C last week. No probs with the battery, but the camera was quite uncomfortable to hold. So hot being all metal. I am super careful not to leave it in the sun; couldn't imagine how hot a black M camera might get. cheers Dave S

Carry a one-gallon ziploc bag. Put the camera in the bag outside before you go in. Make sure to squeeze as much air out of the bag as you can before you seal it. Then go ahead and take it inside. You won't be able to use your camera while you're warming up, but it won't be exposed to much condensation either.
