good portrait of a busy man, from the look of his office.

 

I think I would have prefered to see the background a little out of focus to emphasise the subject more clearly. Just a personal opinion.

The portrait definitely says, "Geology," but it sure doesn't look like he's retired. Nice work.

Hi David,

 

I like your picture, the surroundings give a good impression of his interest. I agree with John in so far, as a more open aperture would have given more focus on the face, and would have cloaked the now quite dominating fore- and background in some diffuse light, thus given the face more emphasis.

Hello David,

 

Nice to see you posting again! I like the expression you caught here and hope it was published. Agree that a little less DOF would have helped, but not TOO shallow since this is an environmental shot and the background = context.
