I have a Canon 35 Æ’2 LTM lens form ~ 1958 or so.

It's front group has slight play (have to have a look into that), but it's aperture ring is still absolutely precise and doesn't go beyond f1.4.

It has paint loss all over the outside surfaces and it has a 40mm filtering.

Is that supposed, to be 40mm from the factory, so I cannot find a screw in hood more than 50 years after?

Ah, before I forget, the pictures are fine.

1. Is the lens supposed to open up slightly bigger than f/1.4? When I turn the aperture dial, it will turn past f/1.4 and will open up the aperture to the point where the blades aren't viewable inside the lens. At f/1.4, they still poke out a tiny bit.

hi. im so glad you brought this up (point no.1) because i have the exact same condition which i always thought it is an isolated case. I appreciate all the feedbacks thereafter. thanks.

My new lens was a little hard to rotate at one point in the focus cycle, but that was gone after, I don't know, 25 to 50 shots. I haven't even though about it since image one with this lens since my subject matter keeps holds attention more than anything else.

I now almost always now leave home with it attached. Absolutely love this lens! I just cannot believe how many I continually see for sale.
