f3p5 Posted May 28, 2015 Share #181 Posted May 28, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I agree Or making a protecting ring for the exposed 63mmx0.75 male thread on the 280 V3 lens head which is similar to V2's but with a smaller circular opening at the end with about 47mm internal diameter but no thread . Or for Telyt 280 V3 and Bellow II connection without a 16598, a simple short step down ring, 63.9mmx1.0 to 63mmx0.75, will do the job perfectly. rionda Posted April 29, 2020 Share #188 Posted April 29, 2020 On 1/25/2011 at 4:26 PM, luigi bertolotti said: Version 3 had a different optical formula from the previous ones, and its performances, expecially in contrast, are definitely better: personally, I never had any R lens... they made various 280 APO (f2,8 - f4 - "modular" Apo Telyt).. i suppose they are superior in image quality.. So typical of me of restarting an old thread (partially about threads... )... I recently got a 280/4.8 v3 (27577XX) and soon I'll have to go through all this thread to understand the different variants and what exactly we learned so far, but first I'd like to focus on this detail about the optical formula. Luigi, could you please share where got this information from? I was talking to someone else who I consider very knowledgeable about Leica stuff (he wrote multiple books), and he said that the schema was essentially the same throughout the life of the lens, for v1, v2, and v3. Did they reformulate the glasses? What did they change? The "blue book" doesn't even mention different versions of this lens (it mentions different versions of the 200/4 though...), and I'm trying to understand where the difference is in terms of optical design/formula. Thanks, Matteo
luigi bertolotti Posted April 29, 2020 Share #189 Posted April 29, 2020 Hi Matteo; regarding the 3rd version of 280, both Lager and Puts write that V3 had something new in the glass (apart mechanics, of course) ... to be precise, Lager says "new computation"... Puts "new design" and, curiosly, they disagree by few units about when this modification occurred (Lager : from 2.340.953, Puts : from 2.340.944.. to say in the middle of batch 2.340.801 - 2.342.300 a batch that included also V2 items, indeed) ; looking at the heads of my two 280s (1.900.221 and 3.059.688 - last batch) it's clear that the basic schema of the lens has never changed and this is also in according to the drawings published by Lager... so... what kind of "new design" ? Glass type ? Coating ? Who knows : anyway, I confirm that my last item has definitely a better contrast than my old one. 1
Michael Geschlecht Posted May 1, 2020 Share #190 Posted May 1, 2020 Hello Everybody, Hello Matteo, This is actually a very interesting & very informative Thread. Especially given that you have a version of the lens. You will enjoy reading all of it. You can find dates & model types in the WIKI at the top of this page, best Regards, Michael
