Dear Misha, however I read with interest the M9 section, I'm still a happy M8 owner - although not a pro - and constantly read relevant forum section because I feel involved. As to switching, I'm not a pro and switching camera wouldn't turn me into a better photographer.

Besides, maybe it's just me but I still have to understand this frantic race to increase the Mpixels. The M8 files can deliver excellent A4 prints and more than decent quality in A3. As far as I know, photographic books and magazines are not made of Hahnemuhle museum paper, therefore the quality increase due to increased resolution might go unnoticed. And in galleries and exhibits, if they showed prints larger than A3 the public would look at them from greater distance...

for me, the only thing i really care about is an extra stop or two that m9 allows.

there are a couple of nagging (and scary issues) that leica nj has not been able to resolve over the years: sudden battery drain (about once a month) and infrequent "unable to read SD card". other than that, my camera has been to NJ several times with ok results (banding, dead pixels. back focus - all replaced or repaired under warranty). Having said that, I live in new york and always hand delivered the camera to them. I would not want to be a pro shooting with just one m8 and no back ups living anywhere else in the country. the turnaround would just be too long and somewhat unpredictable.
