andybarton Posted November 17, 2010 Share #21 Â Posted November 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the X1 a good camera? Isn't that the question being asked? Â If so, the answer, surely, must be "It depends" Â Or "Yes and No"
Advertisement Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Is X1 Good Camera?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
h00ligan Posted November 17, 2010 Share #22 Â Posted November 17, 2010 I'm not sure I'd assign irony as a label in the first place regarding the comment.
Guest badbob Posted November 18, 2010 Share #23 Â Posted November 18, 2010 The X1, used as designed, makes excellent photos. So it's yes, yes (no no's). For people who want features and performance the X1 doesn't have, there are many choices available, for less money than the X1 costs. None of those other products and their features make the X1 anything less than a good camera. As we say in the software business "Functioning as designed." fotografr Posted November 19, 2010 Share #24 Â Posted November 19, 2010 It is my belief that irony is not taught in the US school system. Â That's not true. We are taught to take irony very seriously here and we don't take kindly to people who use it for humour.
Dan States Posted November 20, 2010 Share #25 Â Posted November 20, 2010 Y'know, I have to say that there is faaaar too much time spent around here comparing and not enough spent shooting. When you go for a piss do you point it at the porcelain, or worry about what the big boys are waving...? Â Regards, Â Bill Actually, based on the number of pictures ever made vs the number of equipment reviews, comments, complaints and raves I'd say we are still far short of our "chat quota". There are bazillions of pictures out there, but only a few thousand "My X1 won't focus on my cat" posts. Get up to speed people. More talk, less photography, please. RichardM8 Posted November 20, 2010 Share #26 Â Posted November 20, 2010 The title and question of this thread must be a joke right?... Â Â @harryliem are you now off to a vegetarian forum to ask if you should eat meat?

magnolio Posted February 9, 2011 Share #31  Posted February 9, 2011 Please help???? Harry I'll just ask you two questions. 1 Can you or can you not afford paying 1550 euros for a compact digital camera? 2 Do you need A3 prints "qualité expo" on baryt paper? If the 35mm FOV does not bother you and you can live with the rather slow focus and shutter speed and answer YES to both questions, BUY THE X1. It's the right camera for your needs. If you are happy viewing your pictures on screen and/or A4 or less prints , most compact cameras will give you what you need. OTOH when you will sell used stuff from Leica or Fuji you usually get great part of your money back. Apologies for my poor English. Just my 2 cents. Best. magnolio
Tsungtak Posted February 10, 2011 Share #32  Posted February 10, 2011 I love my X1, I don't use it every day but when I need a point and shoot, the X1 is what I use. I have shot landscapes, buildings, and people and it is a gem. I have 2 landscape shots where I have blown it up to 24x36 inches and it looks as good as from any of my Nikons. The X1 is not only a very good camera but is also beautifully designed. I used it as a prop on 2 of my shoots Welcome, dear visitor! jhluxton Posted February 10, 2011 Share #33  Posted February 10, 2011 I take ship photographs - the X1 might not appear the best camera in the book for such subjects due to to no tele / zoom facility and a relatively wide angle fixed lens. However, for fairly close vessels in low light the IQ is in my opinion brilliant.  I have only had mine for about 5 to 6 weeks and I am delighted with the performance in adverse lighting conditions  Some hand held pictures on my web site taken on a freezing cold January night.  The ones at the bottom of the page at:  http://www.irishseashipping.com/photofeatures/shipco/dfds/dublinseaways290111birk/dublinseaways290111birk.htm  Were taken by me on the X1  It took me quite a while to decide to buy one - only taking the plunge in early January. I am pleased I did - it delivers the goods!  John
robert blu Posted February 10, 2011 Share #34 Â Posted February 10, 2011 I have my since X'mas and I say yes, it is a good camera. Is it a perfect camera (if a perfect camera exist!) ? No. Is it a camera for everyone? No, because a paritcular approach is necessary to get the best out of it. robert PS I have a picture in the x1 challenge "weather". leic Posted February 11, 2011 Share #35  Posted February 11, 2011 Hi, I am about to decide to buy one.  Here you can see a simple shot on the Street outside the shop.  Nothing special, but a true image.  http://www.realwebprojects.de/L1000060.jpg  The image quality seems to be ok.  But maybe someone has other opinion?
