pendevour Posted January 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica M2 with 50mm Summicron f2. New luxury apartments at Rotherslade. I'm begining to like the look of the new development, it has a certain "art deco" appeal.
Advertisement Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Hi pendevour, Take a look here Where the rich live . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robert_parker Posted January 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2007 Could have been there since 1920 - an example of quality modern architecture. (Ps. Really nice composition of a tricky subject on a cliff, too...!!)
stuny Posted January 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted January 16, 2007 AJ - I held off commenting on this until I got to my home computer -- My work monitor made this look like it was filled with artifacts. Now that I see it on a good monitor I see just how really good it is with its lovely, full tonal range and details. Very nice.
jmr Posted January 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 17, 2007 AJ, nice, rich shot of what looks to be an appropriate new building for the sea-side.
pendevour Posted January 17, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted January 17, 2007 Here is the view from the balcony - "a rich man's view" of Langland bay.
Peter41951 Posted January 17, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 17, 2007 The first photograph has excellent perspective enhancing the Art Deco feel of the building. I dug onto the web to find the location and your photo does the building far more justice than the estate agents' ones; and, you're right, the apartments are very pricey! Apparently the development replaced an old hotel on the site.
pendevour Posted January 17, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's right Peter. The Hotel was called "The Osborne" and probably had its best years in the 1930's. It was in a fantastic location but never seemed to make it big time since the 1970's. Too much competition and too many going "To Spain" etc. We've love the coastal walks in "The Gower" and the path passes right below this development.
