Advertisement Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Hi stonearabiapix, Take a look here Barnack's Monthly: November- WORK.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted November 16, 2010 Share #22 Posted November 16, 2010 How do they cope these days? I remember that at least we had a shovel to lean on when I did that type of work. Pete.

Elf 'n safety, Guv; risk assessments have shown that shovels are no longer considered suitable for leaning on. Nice photo of work (not) in progress. elansprint72 Posted November 17, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted November 17, 2010 Should we continue with this "sticky" thread? The intention was to draw in new photo-posters along with the "old masters". I'm not sure that we are achieving that aim, recently. What I would like to do is entice in all the BIG TALKERS from the wordy side of the forum to show us their, clearly, fabulous work. Perhaps we should run a month's theme limited to folks who spent more than $10k on their body/(single)lens combo...... let's not get into cases and straps. farnz Posted November 17, 2010 Share #25 Posted November 17, 2010 I vote to continue the sticky thread because there's so few constraints, no judging and interesting themes so it's a very pleasant way to share good or not so good (in my case:o) photos that might not otherwise have seen the light of day. (PS, has anyone seen Azzo lately ... ?) Pete.
farnz Posted November 17, 2010 Share #26 Posted November 17, 2010 ... a gold star goes to the geek who can decode my tote bag monogram. Okay, Dave, I've wracked my neuron and come up empty so I give in. What does "E.I.P.I.I.O" stand for? "Engineering Institute of Pensylvannia, Indiana, Idaho and Ohio" ... ? "Eat In the Parlour, Imbibe In the Outdoors" ... ? "Every Inch Perfect Is Its Objective" ... ? Pete.

(PS, has anyone seen Azzo lately ... ?) Pete. That's just the sort of response I would expect from you. AZZ:eek: pre-advised me that he would be busy for the next few months some while back . I just hope that he is working on the book; to which I staked claim on copy #1 just after he joined the forum. Any more opinions?
daveleo Posted November 17, 2010 Share #28 Posted November 17, 2010 well now, Pete I agree that this "sticky post" needs a breath of new life, and (no doubt) the opinions will come flooding in. But, as I am the smartest and best looking of this sorry lot, I think my opinon weighs far more heavily than others I do think we should continue with this. I think the rules for this one thread should allow non-leica hardware to be used (these days, I am shooting with Nikon for digital and Fuji for film, and I am not posting much anywhere) It is very hard to set up a thread where many people post many images and many other people comment and counter-comment, so the idea of "bringing the old timers together with the new timers" in one thread is kind of overwhelming. Maybe don't allow commentary (?) . . . maybe just post and learn stuff by osmosis (?). The monthly theme idea is fundamentally good and challenging. I would go with any/all of those. Engineers,eh?

Pete, I am giving you the gold star, at least for trying ! ! okay . . . let's get through this . . . . it is Euler's Equation, which (this will make it clear what a jerk I am) is magical and will drive you crazy trying to understand what it implies . . . . . . don't ask me, though i have spent more than a reasonable amount of time trying to "decode the message" . . . pi is irrational, e is irrational, i is imaginary, 1 is unity and it all works up to zero ! ! . . . why ? ? not a lot of people wonder about stuff like this, and i envy them . . pop Posted November 17, 2010 Share #33 Posted November 17, 2010 Well, yes. The first step is not all that difficult, I would think: e raised to to (i * pi) + 1 = 0 directly leads to e raised to --something-- equals minus one. Since no positive number will yield a negative result when raised to any self-respecting number, i*pi can not be a self-respecting number. You must be imagining things. Oh well, I better go and get some sleep.
farnz Posted November 17, 2010 Share #34 Posted November 17, 2010 Ahhh, it's Euler. (As an Engineer I'm vaguely familiar with Euler's Equation although it's a good 30 years since I wrestled with it:o). Pete.

JeTexas Posted November 18, 2010 Share #40 Posted November 18, 2010 But NPR disc jockeys don't really work. They just sit in the studio and beg for money twice a year. L1011217 by ffacker, on Flickr
