d2mini Posted October 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) From Alex and the guys at Popflash. Just thought I'd share a few pics for those wondering about them. It's just a plain, but heavy duty cotton strap, similar to the popular Voigtlander cotton straps. But this one is ajustable (I like my straps to be on the longer side) and thicker. And it's finished off with some nice leather pieces. Comfortable, smells good, and it's pretty compact in the camera bag.

christakis Posted October 28, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2010 Whoah! I've been eyeing the black version of this for a couple of weeks but the red looks amazing too!
artspraken Posted October 29, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 29, 2010 a bit too loud for stealth, but it looks nice
Tinchohs Posted October 29, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 29, 2010 I currently used one like this one, but that it's not extensible. I checked for this one on Artisan's website and could not find it. What's the name of this model? Thanks.
andybarton Posted October 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 29, 2010 It's the "80s banker" model. Gekko would have been proud.

Looking at your second picture again, I can see from the red distance markings on the lens that it comes across rather over-saturated. Perhaps the red strap is not so loud after all! Looking at your second picture again, I can see from the red distance markings on the lens that it comes across rather over-saturated. Perhaps the red strap is not so loud after all! Ya, the studio lights make it pop. But it's not far off. For some reason the markings on the lens intensified more than than the strap, but you are right, the strap is a little brighter in the pics than it is in my dimly lit office. cae Posted October 29, 2010 Share #11 Posted October 29, 2010 I see the Popflash site indicates the strap as made of acrylic cloth, is there a mixup here, and two different straps are available? Or is it in fact not cotton at all? You see, I think I would prefer the "cotton-feel" :-) Regards Christian
Overgaard Posted October 29, 2010 Share #12 Posted October 29, 2010 Funky! I love it, your photo should be part of the article leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - Leica M9 Digital Rangefinder Camera - Page 7: Color calibrators I've also had my eyes on the orange A&A leather strap but unfortunately it is only 90cm which is too short for my taste (the 105 cm A&A are just perfect length). One can change straps, and some times loud is good, at other times you want to stay under the radar.

I'll try to amend my first post to limit confusion. (looks like its too late, oh well.) It has a soft cotton feel, but strong. I'll be putting it to use tomorrow when i cover an event. But in limited testing it's soft and comfortable, not rough or scratchy.
d2mini Posted October 29, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted October 29, 2010 One can change straps, and some times loud is good, at other times you want to stay under the radar. Exactly. I have others to choose from. I just wish more companies used the leica connectors! That would make things a lot easier. These common "key rings" as I like to call them are a pain in the arse to get on leica's rounded studs. And feel free to use the photo, Thorsten. Even if it's used in jest, haha. Your site has been very valuable to me.

250swb Posted October 30, 2010 Share #18 Posted October 30, 2010 Whoah! I've been eyeing the black version of this for a couple of weeks but the red looks amazing too! If you pull the black plastic shoulder pad off a standard Leica strap you get something very similar. Unless thats not the point? Steve
d2mini Posted October 30, 2010 Author Share #19 Posted October 30, 2010 If you pull the black plastic shoulder pad off a standard Leica strap you get something very similar. Unless thats not the point? Steve This is true to some extent. Two things I like better about the A&A is that it's twice as wide and the leica one feels like acrylic/nylon where there A&A is softer like cotton. But Leica obviously has the better connectors. scsambrook Posted October 30, 2010 Share #20 Posted October 30, 2010 It looks like a sensible design, whatever the colour. But for heaven's sake - $75 US for a simple strap made from some sort of fabric?
