Advertisement Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hi porkphoto, Take a look here Is there...?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
storybrown Posted October 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 16, 2010 Welome! There is a "Let's see your R" thread in the film forum -- R users are not such romantics or nostaligics as M users, who have "I love my Mx!" threads -- and many individual R lens & issue & query threads. So there's plenty here. The majority of Leicaphiles (not all, certainly) are prolly "commodity fetishists" in the original sense of that term, including prolly a majority of R users, so one will find such terms as "camera porn" regularly enough in both the R & M & LTM threads (& also the digital threads). Enjoy!
adan Posted October 16, 2010 Share #3 Posted October 16, 2010 I believe these days the R system falls in the "Historica" category.
storybrown Posted October 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 16, 2010 well, as much "historica" as any other film stuff -- R kit is prolly the best buy in the film world today, as shrunken a work as that may now seem . . .

scsambrook Posted October 18, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 18, 2010 It is??? God blind me! Regards, Bill When I was a child, I had a speech impediment which made certain combinations of letters amost impossible to get out of my mouth - "probably" was one of the nightmares. If I couldn't avoid the word I used to say - (yes! you guessed!!) - "prolly". So, it's a familiar term to me.

porkphoto Posted October 18, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted October 18, 2010 Ok...Neuer Benutzer back again...hmmm...no R forum. Ok, how does one go about suggesting we start one, or perhaps a sub-forum to the film forum. I can't be the only one interested.Surely there's plenty of R users out there. And after all, the letter R is in most written languages...GeRmany, GReat BRitain, AmeRica, NetheRlands etc, etc, etc. Lets hear from the R users. earleygallery Posted October 18, 2010 Share #12 Posted October 18, 2010 What do you want to know/ask? We don't have an M forum either by the way, digital forums yes, but film M questions go in the film or customer sections.
sparkie Posted October 19, 2010 Share #13 Posted October 19, 2010 What's a "prolly"? Regards, Bill its pommie b@stardisation of the 'Queens' english < for lazy what-nots> . Not too distant & dissimilar to cockney slang, although their agenda was different.
porkphoto Posted October 19, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted October 19, 2010 As a new R owner I just thought it would facilitate getting to the R threads. The way it is now I have to scroll through a hundred M threads before I get to even the first R. Well, that's ok, it is what it is. Thanks everyone for your response. By the way, that "Lets see your R" thread was great.
stuny Posted October 19, 2010 Share #15 Posted October 19, 2010 Porkphoto - At the top of the screen is a link for Community, and one of the selections in its menu is Social Groups. One of the social groups is for the DMR - the digial back of the R8 and R9. Being "off" the page form teh main forum it's not visited that much, but it might be a place for you to start. Other than that you could do a search (use advanced search) for your model of R and see what you can get.
Wiggi Posted October 20, 2010 Share #16 Posted October 20, 2010 Hello everyone, new member here and new Leica owner. Is there an R forum? Now, now...no laughing, giggling or snickering! No. The R-System is dead! If you are shooting with your Leica R film, you are right in the Film Forum. If you have a DMR, your place is the Digital Forum. If you have a classic camera take a look at the Leica Collectors & Historica. And if you want something to know about the anounced "digital solution for R-Lenses" go to Canon, Nikon or Sony. Is your favorite next camera the S2, I think you found already the Leica S2 Forum.
