I am using a leica external flash with it and the combination works well. This hummingbird was very patient so I could get quite close. He changes color with his movements and the lighting. I have the Panasonic version of the V lus 20. It is a Lumix FZ100 and costs just a few dollars over $400 this week. it drops every week. If you get one and it is not perfect, send it back and get another. Sometimes it takes a few exchanges to get a good one but it is worth the trouble. My first one was soft and noisy.
