LuxBob Posted October 12, 2010 Share #21 Posted October 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) But wouldn't a lot of this be nullified if they had a faster autofocus for the X1 and, at least from my point of view, a built in finder? It would have been first choice for me as a 'grab' camera. It's nice to have a Leica but more important to have a non quirky camera that works and gives good images. Advertisement Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi LuxBob, Take a look here interesting comparison x1 - x100. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jsrockit Posted October 12, 2010 Share #22 Posted October 12, 2010 i think a trend in retro digital camera will be starting soon, if the trend hasn't started already, nikon and canon will make dslr cameras that look like the old cameras, like the FM, FE etc. same finish and body, but digital. my guess is that will be the next thing to get popular. of course, leica has been doing this since m8. I'd love to see this happen, but I just don't see it happening. Canon and Nikon are doing well without this type of camera. There is a whole different segment of the market which thinks the newest, craziest spec'd DSLR is the best thing going... I'd imagine that this segment is much larger than the one who wants a retro DSLR.

phancj Posted October 14, 2010 Share #26 Posted October 14, 2010 Distracted? By M9? Did you buy one already? Nope, doing research online, trying it out at the store, but now they are out of lenses so I suppose I can try when the lux and cron 35 and 50 comes in. Dunno but if I am buying only one lens I might stick with the X1 for a while. The AF is one big feature in this little gem, despite many slamming it. I think I can get used to it but doing the RF thingy can be a strain after a couple photos. The X1 is on the other hand a very fun camera to have, so even if I buy the M9 I will keep my X1 for sure, my wife wants it and asked me several times already, and she doesnt even like cameras but like it so much, due to the combination of its looks plus the IQ. I will post details of the competition today!
