I've made a custom forum export preset in LR with the same settings:

  • File Settings: JPEG, sRGB, Limit File Size to: 500 K
  • Image Sizing: Resize to fit: Long Edge = 1280 px
  • Sharpen For: Screen – Standard

This should ensure the best image quality, and it's very handy to have it available with just one click.

CL. Downloaded through Fotos, edited in Snapseed, resized in Image Size.

But certainly nowhere near the quality I get when resizing properly. This one is uncropped.

Yes absolutely. The quality via the Image Size app is acceptable, but not a good as properly resizing.

Those are not compression jaggies but sharpening haloes I think.
