sanyasi Posted September 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased a copy of Street Photography Now by Sophie Howarth and Stephen McLaren published by Thames & Hobson (2010). The book includes photographs from 46 street photographers, together with commentary as to why the photographers do what they do. It is a very nice survey. I suspect at least one forum member's work is represented. There are several photographs of late night life in Cardiff, Wales. As I recall, there is one forum member who had a signature line with links to what appear to be similar photos. sanyasi Posted September 29, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted September 29, 2010 Glad to offer the reminder. Had a chance last night to page through the book. It is terrific. Just the right mix of text and photos. Reading about the photographers and what they are trying to achieve is interesting. Certainly not a manual (not intended to be), but you get a great sense of the the person's aesthetics. There also are several (I noticed two) general/short essays that introduce some of the chapters. Haven't gotten to these yet. If you buy, buy for the photos. Many are quite funny. Jack Siegel September 29, 2010
250swb Posted September 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2010 I've been reading my copy for the last week now and I'd highly recommend it as a contemporary view of street photography. There is some outstanding work in this book. Steve
leicashot Posted September 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Great book with 'The Best of the Best'. One of the contributors, Jesse Marlow is the best modern day street shooter around, and you'll NEVER see him on the street without his Leica. No one sees the street like this guy - take a look!
