EJohnE Posted September 25, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted September 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The manual is no help. The Leica website just refers to the local agent who sent my query to their Leica service people who did not bother to reply; I have looked in this forum's FAQ with no result. I want to use my old hammerhead flash (triggers @ 204 v) without having to bother with my Wein Safesync. Does anybody know of any data re the highest safe voltage of the R8's pc connection ? Â (Both Canon and Olympus imply flashes up to 250 volts are safe with their cameras). Â Niggled, John.
Advertisement Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Hi EJohnE, Take a look here Safe flash voltage - R8 pc connecter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted September 25, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted September 25, 2010 I don't know about the R8 but 24 volts seem to be the limit for ISO compliant cameras so i would not take such a risk personally. See Photo Strobe Trigger Voltages.
symmetron Posted September 25, 2010 Share #3 Â Posted September 25, 2010 I am almost certain it's 24 volts as a number of years ago when I first received my R8, I contacted Leica regarding using a Vivitar 283 flash.
