krabat Posted September 22, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 22, 2010 Well, I think only a digital body with a FF sensor can be a REAL R solution...
earleygallery Posted September 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 22, 2010 Why/how should this be an R solution, am I missing something?
dkCambridgeshire Posted September 22, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted September 22, 2010 Why/how should this be an R solution, am I missing something? Leitax Leica R adaption coupled with a new Foveon sensor could result in superb image quality Leica lens for Sigma cameras dunk
andybarton Posted September 22, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 22, 2010 But this has a tiny APS-C X3 sensor. How does this help?

It's true that this one's larger at APS-C but it doesn't appear to be improved and looks to have more than double the number of pixels per sq cm so it's likely to be noisier. Or have I missed something? Pete.
Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 23, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The "R" solution is most likely whatever is the first full-frame mirrorless camera - somebody will whip up a adapter really quickly... question is who, my wild guess is Sony will be the first to pop a fullframe in a incredible small body... so that will then be a Sony R solution, hopefully the viewfinder will be sexier than what is shipping in the EVIL world at the moment.. well just a guess. . Paolo.Battista Posted September 23, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 23, 2010 Well, I think only a digital body with a FF sensor can be a REAL R solution... Yes, FF would be really appreciated, but it's not a paradigm for every kind of photography. I would prefer a solution with an APS-C format but really greater image quality over a mediocre FF solution. So it depends on what will be the real image quality from this new Foveon. As far as the older Sigmas are concearned, in some shooting situations they were able to produce astonishing results. They were limited by many issues, but the technology in itself is very promising. In case the sensor will prove to be really good, I hope Sigma will sell it to real camera maker Companies. Anyway, any new technology that could bring to improvements is welcome. From the BJP article: "Sigma says it is working on a full-frame version of the sensor, despite the three-layer design's complexity". [
