dcoombs Posted September 19, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 19, 2010 Rich, isn't it true that with all those adaptors the lens won't focus at all at infinity? Doug
WestMichigan Posted September 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 21, 2010 Hello, since Konica made SLR's and Rangefinders you need to specify Which Type Of Camera the lens was designed for. Either way, I can't answer your question anyway - my knowledge of Konica RF equipment ='s Zippity Doodah and so is my knowledge of how to get a Konica SLR lens onto an M-mount Camera, but at least other readers might get a running start on giving your the right answer. Peace, Richard in Michigan what adaptor do i need to mount the konica 40mm 1.8 hexanon on my m8? thanks in advance edit - i do already own the m42 adaptor
kanzlr Posted September 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2010 afaik this is a SLR lens, right? If so, it is of course not rangefinder coupled and you can not focus it at all (other than guessing or zone focusing).
Yogibear Posted September 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2010 afaik this is a SLR lens, right? If so, it is of course not rangefinder coupled and you can not focus it at all (other than guessing or zone focusing). This MUST not be true. It depends on the amount of displacement of the optical group of the lens when you turn the focussing ring. If this displacement happens to be identical to that of the Leitz lenses (with a straight base ring, not a curved one) it's possible to construct a suitable adapter for that lens. I just bought for little money out of curiosity a Miranda 1.4/50 with exactly such an adapter - it's frontfocussing a little at all distances on my M and stops before infinity, so I will have to shave a little off the pusher pin of the adapter (see below), but it seems to work quite well all the same. About Konica: I asked Will van Manen last week if he could adapt my Hexanon 1.2/57 to M and the answer was 'no', because the displacement of the optical group is not correct. But it might be worth to check for the 1.8/40! Below a shot of the adapter pusher pin: Welcome, dear visitor! Xmas Posted September 21, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2010 Hi If the lens is the Hexanon AR 40mm f/1.8 SLR pancake and has a M42 adapter on it that maintains infinity focus on a M42 camera then Rich is correct. The Konicas registration is pretty large, may be ok just... You will only be able to scale focus the lens on the M8 and chimp to confirm that is what you want. Lot simpler getting a CV 40mm M mount lens. Noel P.S. because the lens is 40mm it would need a precision cam to comply with the M8 50mm rangefinder follower travel, difficult
giordano Posted September 21, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Leica rangefinder coupling is based on the focusing movement of a lens of 52mm focal length (or maybe a slightly different figure: sources aren't unanimous). So in principle any 52mm lens (and a great many 50s are really 52s) can be given the treatment that that Yogi's Miranda lens has had - but no other focal length.
