mahakalaka Posted September 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Gang! Just wondering if anyone has happened to bump in to the new 35 Lux somewhere in Europe? I really want it! Oh, and sorry if this is an inappropriate question to ask on the forum. Thanks in advance! //Max

Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted September 18, 2010 Max, Im pretty sure leica recalled those a while ago... like you, Im looking for one. .
Clandrel Posted September 19, 2010 Share #3 Posted September 19, 2010 I had one for sale on this forum a few days ago. It was gone within 10 minutes. /c
Overgaard Posted September 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 19, 2010 I have tried it three times, and each time I try really hard convincing myself the 35mm is not for me. It's one of the most magic lenses (un-) available and it just completes the whole feeling of the M9. Bo, you think they recalled them?

Riccis Posted September 19, 2010 Share #6 Posted September 19, 2010 The recall is just a rumor. Correct... Maybe after Monday's event it will be very clear where all the 35 luxes have gone
doug_m Posted September 19, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had one for sale on this forum a few days ago. It was gone within 10 minutes. /c Why did you sell it?
Clandrel Posted September 20, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 20, 2010 Firstly, I'm more a 50mm than a 35mm guy. Secondly, I don't think it has the magical drawing that i.e the 50 lux ASPH has. It sure was good, but not as good as my 28/2 ASPH or 50/1.4 ASPH. And I felt was a lot of money for something that didn't feel special. For $5000 it should be perfect in every respect, and I don't think it is (at least not to me). When I first got it I was very happy (maybe a part of that was that I owned a lens that few had) but after a while I realized that I was missing something. I got my money back though:)
luigi bertolotti Posted September 20, 2010 Share #9 Posted September 20, 2010 I'm not in the mood of buying it... but, by chance, saw one for sale at a well known shop in Paris, last Friday.

Luigi, any chance you would like to share with us witch shop that would be? //Max No problem... but I do not remember exactly the name... it was next to Bastille (Bvd. Beaumarchais I think) ... "Leica Maison" or similar... fine shop, not great but very stylish. As I said, I was there by chance and just gave a quick look inside... there was a shelf with used gear (with a Summilux 50 asph... "reservè" ) and a shelf of brand new items... witha black M9 and some lenses included a Summilux 35, a 18, a Wate...
leicashot Posted September 20, 2010 Share #12 Posted September 20, 2010 The recall is just a rumor. The recall was only for those that didn't hit the shelves and was not a rumor. Production has been delayed until they correct the problem. This is pretty common knowledge now, or has anyone else noticed that there is not specific ETA for it to be back on shelves. I don't have very high hopes though, since that lens was written with red letters on their website. Couldn't understand what it said about it though, since I can't read French. I have the lens since the end of July and I have not detected any problem, all the feedback I've seen and heard from other users are nothing less then positive, I have not seen anywhere any specific complain. Any specific info about the problem you mention will be highly appreciated. Cheers, Ario

If there was a recall my dealer would have told me. A recall for lenses that didn't hit the shelves would mean that Leica doesn't care about their customers who already bought the lens. Any serious information is welcome. (when I say serious means justified by proven facts) All the best, Jean-Luc
aymoon Posted September 21, 2010 Share #16 Posted September 21, 2010 I believe one was spotted at photokina last night, but it was a funny colour and wearing a strange hat!

Any serious information is welcome. (when I say serious means justified by proven facts) All the best, Jean-Luc Hi: I have contacted Leica about the recall. Some information from the Leica forum sometimes lack the official basis. This is unfortunately the case. It is official - I have sought the safe side with the competent authorities -. No recall regarding the designated SUMMILUX LEICA-M 1:1.4 / 35 mm ASPH" Frank
Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 29, 2010 Share #18 Posted September 29, 2010 Arrived this morning, it seems safe to say "rumors of my demise is highly exaggerated" I will leave the reviewing and similar to much more qualified people than myself. Rick Posted September 29, 2010 Share #19 Posted September 29, 2010 Bo, you're killing me!!! I'm first on the list up here in Seattle. Maybe I'll get a call this week and I can sneak out at lunch and drive downtown and pick it up. Does it feel much smaller than the 50/1.4? I was hoping for a little bit more of a compact feel than my 50/1.4. Any first impressions or thoughts about pictures you've taken so far.
Bo_Lorentzen Posted September 29, 2010 Share #20 Posted September 29, 2010 Rick, Hopefully it should be raining luxes around the land over the next week or so. I don't know how many, but I keep hearing that the "recall" was legit, whatever they fixed, close focus is perfect and I am much relieved that the defocus is not as wild as I had feared. I don't actually have a 50lux, but it seems smaller than the ones I have seen, yet its bigger than I had hoped for. (comparing to the CV 35 1.4 ha ha) it turns out the Heliopan filters do not fit under the hood, tread is 46mm but the filter edge is 48.02 space inside the hood is 47.97 soo the hunt is on for diet filters. he he. Contrast and flare control is top, see the portrait in the people forum. .
