jsrockit Posted September 15, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted September 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anyone seen any sites selling replacement skins for the X1 (similar to the ones they sell for the E-P1 / 2)?
Advertisement Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hi jsrockit, Take a look here Replacement skins for X1?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
carlosecpf Posted September 16, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted September 16, 2010 Hi John, Â Perhaps we can talk to Morgan at Cameraleather.com and check if he could do it for us. He already did customized skins for the Digilux 2 for several L-camera-forum participants, including me, even though it is not featured in his official catalog on the web. I am sure if there is enough demand he can do it. Â Do you know if replacing the skin would void the warranty? I believe not, but I don't want to jeopardize that. jsrockit Posted September 16, 2010 Author Share #3 Â Posted September 16, 2010 Yes, we can do that... and I guess we can ask Leica about the warranty as well. I'm just sick of the pealing skin on mine... it got bad during the hottest days of the summer.
J_Thompson Posted September 16, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted September 16, 2010 Do you know if replacing the skin would void the warranty? I believe not, but I don't want to jeopardize that. Â It doesn't void the warranty on the digital M cameras, although if a camera has to be sent in for service and the covering has to be removed, Leica will replace it with the original for that particular model. brill64 Posted September 17, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted September 17, 2010 in a display cabinet recently i saw an m9 and an x1 with what looked like fake (i think) brown ostrich skin. it was kind of funky looking but a bit 'so what'. more fiddly to fit to an x1 i imagine because it looked kind of messy
jsrockit Posted September 17, 2010 Author Share #6 Â Posted September 17, 2010 I really want some red pleather skin for my X1...
phancj Posted September 18, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted September 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recommend a skinless X1- ultimate simplicity haha, just mask everything and airbrush multiple coats of enamel...provided there are no screws underneath the vulcanite where Leica may need to access during servicing? jsrockit Posted September 19, 2010 Author Share #8 Â Posted September 19, 2010 Response from cameraleather: Â John, Â Thanks for the inquiry. We don't yet support this camera. I would like to offer a kit, but I can't tell you when that might happen. Â Thanks, Morgan
