Wiggi Posted September 4, 2010 Share #21 Posted September 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The M9 sensor doesn't allow live view, ... Is a full frame live view able sensor on the market? The M9 and S2 sensors made by Kodak don't allow live view. The APS-C Sensor of the X1 is made by Sony. Would a manufacturer who sells a full frame live view camera himselfalso sell the sensor to Leica?

Guest BigSplash Posted September 4, 2010 Share #22 Posted September 4, 2010 Is Frau Harberts still at Leica? An APS solution would not satisfy R users, I would suggest. I think it's time for us to move on, if APS is the best solution on offer. Yes she is as of one month ago.
geaibleu Posted September 5, 2010 Share #23 Posted September 5, 2010 Remember though that according to Leica the solution will come from a third party. How about using Sony's existing FF Dslr line, change the Sony/Minolta lens mount for the R one (like what Leitax is doing but on the body this time), modify the viewfinder to accept different screens, and rename such bodies the L-pha. Thus, Sony keeps making its bodies under their own name, R lenses owners are happy, and Leica gets some royalties. For the oldies who require auto focusing lenses, get the Zeiss/Sony with an appropriate mount. In other words a win-win situation that does not cost much... lct Posted September 5, 2010 Share #24 Posted September 5, 2010 ...In other words a win-win situation that does not cost much... So Sony would do like Minolta in the past. Would be great for us but for Sony i don't know.
Theodor Heinrichsohn Posted September 5, 2010 Share #25 Posted September 5, 2010 quote No wonder Leica got out of the market... assuming your numbers are reasonable (and they seem to be) - there's a perfectly good R solution right now - the Canon 5DMkII and it only costs less that $2400. Full frame, high resolution, incredible color. acceptable with manual focus R lens albeit an adapter is required, and CHEAP. Assuming Leica could hit your $14,000 targer, how much of a died in the wool Leica fanatic would you have to be to spend 600 percent more net money for a red dot? If you're onlyl 300 percent wrong and leica could hit a 7500 target, it would still be three times the cost of a very adequate solution. You can save your confederate money boys, but I wouldn't wait for the South to rise again. True. I have a Canon 1 DS and have used R-lenses via adapters from China, Novoflex and Zörkendörfer. Problem is that important lenses, such as the newer 19mm (the old Mandler Canadian made works) 35/1.4, 35-70 2.8 do not work. The 21-35 works if you take off the plastic shield. The plastic shield in the 35-70 2.8 should not be touched, according to Leica Solms. I presume that the situation is the same for the Canon 5D II. If not, I would greatly appreciate some information.
