Rolo Posted January 7, 2007 Share #1 Posted January 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Steve informs that he has a desire to document the UK coast in his personal style. Here's one of mine of a local scene and a promise fulfilled. Time to get on with it Steve, soon be back 'in-season'. andybarton Posted January 7, 2007 Share #4 Posted January 7, 2007 Steve informs that he has a desire to document the UK coast in his personal style. Very good indeed. North Wales again? Steve should promise to take a shot per mile as he goes round. That would make around 7-8,000 shots to document the whole coast. Sounds like my wife's "retirement" plan to me. She wants to walk around the coast of Britain. We have already started
Peter41951 Posted January 7, 2007 Share #5 Posted January 7, 2007 A great shot! The print should look stunning.
stunsworth Posted January 7, 2007 Share #6 Posted January 7, 2007 Very nice. I was thinking more of declining seaside resorts, but this is very good - as usual :-)
Rolo Posted January 7, 2007 Author Share #7 Posted January 7, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice. I was thinking more of declining seaside resorts, but this is very good - as usual :-) "declining seaside resorts". In the UK, Steve ? Might be struggling a bit there. Can't think of any off the top of my head. They've all declined, including the one above !
blovitch Posted January 7, 2007 Share #8 Posted January 7, 2007 The old pier at Weston Super Mare Springs to mind...... It has been years since I was there, but I should thing it could yield some very moody images.
stuny Posted January 7, 2007 Share #9 Posted January 7, 2007 Rolo - In many ways this has your signature excellence to it -- dramatic tones, foreboding air, great depth. What's unusual here, and very effective, is the softness which seems to enhance the eerie quality.
shootpeople Posted January 7, 2007 Share #10 Posted January 7, 2007 Very sweet Rolo. Deep and rich tones.
Rolo Posted January 10, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted January 10, 2007 North Wales again? Steve should promise to take a shot per mile as he goes round. That would make around 7-8,000 shots to document the whole coast. Sorry Andy, your local geography needs a helping hand. It's Morcambe, that Lancashire town where the traffic lights are permanently on red. Perhaps Mr Clarke will provide a grid reference.
stunsworth Posted January 10, 2007 Share #12 Posted January 10, 2007 I thought the lights were always on green so that you could drive right through without stopping :-) I think I know this jetty and may even have some shots of it at low tide. The last time I was in Morcambe they were 'landscaping' the beach, presumably in preparation of the Midland hotel reopening its doors.

DTD Posted January 10, 2007 Share #14 Posted January 10, 2007 Nice shot (as always) Rolo. Steve, I've spent the past few years doing just such a project, maybe we should compare notes! lambroving Posted January 14, 2007 Share #15 Posted January 14, 2007 Very dramatic. What lens? Feel there is an element missing which keeps it from being perfection..., but not sure. What do YOU think?
robert_parker Posted January 14, 2007 Share #16 Posted January 14, 2007 Rolo I really like that one - it's moody with a real sense of mystery about it - I've got it a touch dark on my monitor but I may need to calibrate it Steve Great idea for a project - especially the northern seaside towns - they aren't photographed enough (can't wait to see what you do with Blackpool) Andy Hope you've got a good set of boots... Tim http://www.leica-camera-user.com/landscape-travel/13675-old-pier-weston-super-mare.html#post142296 Ps. Minehead in Somerset had no traffic lights at all until recently.....
